Mary Louise Sizemore Sleight, 87, passed away Sept. 8, in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, from causes incident to age. She was born in Georgetown, on February 14, 1925, to Daniel Thomas and Katherine Elber Sizemore. She attended elementary and high schools in Georgetown. Soon after Loyd Sleight returned from serving in the Army during World War II, he and Mary wedded in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
An active member of the LDS Church, Mary served nine years as Relief Society President of the Georgetown Ward and later served in the ward Young Women’s program. She also had a great love for Primary children. She taught Primary until she was in her early 80’s. She and Loyd also did name extraction for the family history program of the church for over 20 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her brother Cliff, her sister Ruby Hunter, and her husband Loyd. She is survived by her four children—Gayla Finkey of Georgetown; Howard (Stevia) of Eden, WY; Don (Alane) of South Jordan; and Ted (Maralee) of Salt Lake City; also, 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Georgetown LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held Friday evening, Sep. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier. A viewing will also be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Georgetown Chapel.
The interment will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery with the services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
