Cloyd Charles Wallentine, age 86, of Paris, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Facility surrounded by many of his loved ones.
Cloyd was born May 7, 1926 to Charles A. and Ruth Peterson Wallentine. Cloyd counted his brother Rodney and sister Yvonne to be two of his greatest blessings. He loved riding horses, trains and ranching with his Dad.

Cloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army in Nov. 1944 as a paratrooper. He was stationed in the Philippines for most of his tour of duty. Cloyd served his country until 1946. He was proud of his heritage and loved his country.

After returning home from World War II, he met the love of his life, Lois Ann Peterson. They were happily married on June 26, 1948 and later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in May of 1959.
Cloyd and Ann were blessed to become the parents of Wynn, Kent, Boyd, and Troy. Their love story was cut short when Ann died of cancer at age 36. Cloyd later married Donna Le Sorenson and became a Step-father to Donna Le’s six children. Cloyd and Donna Le completed their family with twin boys Dean and Dale.

Cloyd worked for the Union Pacific railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 36 years and retired in 1988. He continued to ranch and enjoy the outdoors with his family.

It was the simple things around him in life that Cloyd never took for granted. He often commented on how fortunate and thankful he was.

Cloyd was a quiet hard working man who loved his family. Above all, Cloyd was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Cloyd will be greatly missed by his wife Donna Le, sons, Wynn, Kent (Sarah), Boyd, Troy (Carla), Dale (Melissa), Dean (Elizabeth), Michael (Marlene), Richard (Genan). His daughters, Nancy (Larry), Myrna (Glen), Mary Lou (Jim). Cloyd was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Ann, a step-daughter Debbie and daughter-in-law Pamela.

Cloyd was a proud grandpa to 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday November 5, 2012 in the Paris LDS Church. Interment was in the Paris Cemetery.
