Our father, grandfather, and "Grandpa Great", passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Dec. 29 after completing his life here on earth. He was born in Montpelier, Idaho to Thomas Moore and Mary Edith Wright Mumford. He was raised on the family farm in Idaho until the family moved to Salt Lake City where he attended public schools, graduating from South High School. He married Beverly Agnes Maughan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 11, 1940. He spent his entire working life in the auto industry. Max was trained as an auto mechanic and later worked in auto sales at Petty Ford, Colonial Ford, Rick Warner Ford and retired from Henry S. Day Ford. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings, always willing to help when called upon. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening, spending many hours maintaining his beautiful yard and garden.
He is survived by his children, Thomas (Martie) Mumford, Patti Fryer, and Robert (Caree) Mumford; 16 grandchildren and 43 1/2 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Mumford who passed away in 1996, his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 4 half-sisters and 1 half-brother.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 12 Noon in the Crystal Heights Ward, 1970 E. Stratford Ave. (2600 South). A viewing will precede the funeral from 10:30-11:45 am. Interment will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
