Betty Lou Graham Sorensen of Montpelier, Idaho, age 78, passed away on March 19, 2013 in a Salt Lake City hospital.
She was born December 1, 1934 on the family farm in Milburn, Utah to Guy Melroy Graham and Gwen Oldroyd. She was raised in Milburn and graduated from North Sanpete High School as valedictorian.
She married Darrell Sorensen on May 28, 1953, in the Manti LDS temple. She was a member of the LDS Church and served an LDS mission with Darrell at the Montpelier Bishop’s Storehouse and served in the Young Women’s program for many years. She was employed at Sears, Financial Credit, and First Security Bank.
She was an excellent seamstress and made all of her clothes and her children’s clothes when they were small. She was a leader in the 4-H program for many years. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls.
Betty and Darrell especially enjoyed spending their winters in St. George in later years. They had a lot of fun and made lots of friends.
She is survived by her daughters Mary (Darrell) Nate of Montpelier, Terri Lynn (Stanton) Jackson of Kanab, Utah, and Sandra Sorensen of Salt Lake City. Also, son-in-law Scott Peterson, Blackfoot, Idaho and brother Neil (Diane) Graham, Kearns, Utah, and sisterin-law Lynn Graham, Clearfield, Utah. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Ryan Nate, Tyler Peterson, Tad Peterson, Trenton Peterson, Troy Peterson, Brett Jackson, and Kelsey Jackson, and by 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, and her daughter, Kathy Peterson and 2 brothers, Robert Graham and Gerry Graham.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Montpelier North Stake Center. Friends may call prior to the services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
