William (Bill) George Bee, 83, of Montpelier, passed away Monday, September 02, 2013, at his home, where he lived with his wife, Darlene. He was born August 17, 1930 in Bloomington, Idaho, to William Richard and Alta (Thornock) Bee. He grew up on the family farm/ranch in Bloomington where he learned the great blessings and rewards of working hard. He was nourished by honest and hard working parents faithful in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He graduated Fielding High School in 1948. He married Merla Nye of Paris, ID, in the Logan Temple on September 15, 1949, and they made their home in Bloomington, where he lived until 2006. Bill and Merla were blessed with 6 children, 5 boys and one girl. Together, Bill and Merla were wonderful and beloved parents and grandparents. They served for 2 years in the Logan Temple as ordinance workers 2002 – 2004. Merla passed away on October 01, 2004.
Bill, being quite lonely for almost 2 years found in Darlene Teuscher Nelson a great friend and fishing companion. She is his first cousin Dean Nelson’s widow. They were married for time on August 17, 2006, their shared birthday. Darlene has been a wonderful companion for the past 7 years and her family warmly accepted him as their new “Dad”. Their love and caring for him was and is greatly appreciated.
Bill served in several callings in the Church, including Elders Quorum President and Bishop’s Counselor. He was always a faithful home teacher and he had many good friends in Bloomington and made many more in Montpelier. The Montpelier 3rd Ward family has been very good to him and he expressed his appreciation for them, many times, to his family.
Bill is preceded in death by his eternal companion, Merla, his parents, his brother Orin and sisters Lois Bee, Donna King and Lillis Bunderson. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, and children, David (Connie) Bee; Glen (Richele) Bee; Rodney (Karen) Bee, all of Bloomington, ID; Catherine (Dave) Veselka, Indian Valley, ID; John (Linda) Bee, Bolivar, MO; and Howard (Melanie) Bee, Logan, UT; 36 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren, as of last week, with 3 more on the way.
Bill built up a successful ranch operation over the years while teaching his children the value of hard work. While the ranch grew, he worked many other jobs to provide for his family, including, laborer, service station attendant, school bus driver, chemical plant operator, etc. He is remembered by his children for his honest and hard working example, his love of the outdoors, riding the range and hunting and fishing, working cattle and especially his love of horses. No one built or maintained better fences. In later years he was an avid Utah Jazz fan, and he and Darlene were able to attend a Jazz home game in SLC last winter. Never one to sit around, up to his last week he was busily engaged in keeping up the yard and in making leather goods for friends and family. He wore himself out keeping busy and doing good deeds. He will be greatly missed by his family, adopted family, and many friends and acquaintances.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Montpelier 3rd Ward Chapel (340 N. 6th St.).
