Martha Ann Etchison, 82 of Grace, Idaho, passed away Sunday, May 12, in Soda Springs, Idaho, following a long illness. She was born May 26, 1919 in Buhl, Idaho to Soloman Walker Williams and Ethel Gertrude Onbey Williams
She married James Don Etchison in Elko, Nevada in 1940. He passed away in May 1973. As a child she lived in Buhl and Castleford. After her marriage to James, they moved to Bellevue in 1947 where Martha lived until 1995 when she moved to Grace and lived with her son, Gary, there.
Martha attended and was a member of the Castleford Baptist Church and later attended the Bellevue Community Church with her family. She served on the Blaine County Republican Committee for over 30 years and also served on the Bellevue election board.
She drove school bus for a number of years and was also a storekeeper, waitress, newspaper proofreader, and retired as a cook at the Blaine County Hospital in Hailey, Idaho. Martha was a member of Rebekah Lodge in Bellevue. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, family vacations, family reunions and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Gary, of Grace, Idaho, and two grandchildren, Asley Etchison, 11, and Andrew Etchison, both of Nampa, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, brothers, J. Raymond Williams and Enoch Williams, and a sister, Pearl (Todd) Williams
Services will be held in Bellevue, Idaho at the Bellevue Community Church, Saturday, May 18, 2002, with a viewing at noon, followed by services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Bellevue Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Home in Twin Falls.
