According to http://www.earthpoint.us/townships.aspx, Section 6 of Range 23E of Township 1N from the Boise Meridian figures to the following corners which you can paste into Google Maps. (The link above will fly you right to the section in Google Earth if you have it installed.)

Section 6
NW Corner = 43.454588300, -113.773722600
NE Corner = 43.454557800, -113.753836900
SE Corner = 43.440220000, -113.753929700
SW Corner = 43.440138700, -113.773806900

Now, your ancestor's claim amounted to the northernmost 1/4 of this section - the whole section from West to East. So, if I'm figuring this out right, that amounts to:

Grandpa's Claim
NW Corner = 43.454588300, -113.773722600
NE Corner = 43.454557800, -113.753836900
SE Corner = 43.450973350, -113.753860100
SW Corner = 43.450975900, -113.773743675

And, the center of the claim would be 43.452773838 -113.763790819. It seems to have bridged the creek. Grandpa was smart! Water is very important in Idaho! In fact, if you look at it, it makes sense why he claimed four lots in row instead of a square as might be more common in flat places. His claim seems to run right along the valley.

It seems to be along Fish Creek Road, about halfway between Bellevue and Arco. It's not too far from Craters of the Moon National Monument, but in the nearby mountains.

I don't live in Blaine County, so I leave it to Mary to address what's actually there!

I'm not a land patent expert, so it might do to double-check my work!
