I am not related but did find this for you:
Idaho Statesman, Boise, Idaho, Fri. Feb 21 1902 page 6
Death of the Only Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cartwright
Georgie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cartwright of Shafer creek, died at the Weiser academy last evening. She was 16 years of age.
The cause of death was bilious fever. The parents were sent for some days ago, but when they reached Boise they were notified that their daughter was so much better that it would not be necessary for them to come. They went home, and yesterday Mrs. Cartwright came back, intending to go to Weiser on last night's train to be with her daughter. Before train time the news came that the sufferer was dead. The remains will be brought back to Boise today.

I second that. This was posted on the Boise County IDGenWeb site and I found that the password doesn't work - so is not helpful to researchers looking for information. Is it possible to post any updated password?

It looks like that person (user ID - jackieoz1) is a contributor to several sites with obituaries. Many people do this as a service to genealogists who may be in search of that elusive relative that is either a brick wall or just disappeared from view. I'm sure they did not mean to be disrespectful or have any hidden agenda.

Reba McMillan
Boise County IDGenWeb coordinator
This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen. Phone: 503-396-2178 OR email: brandonsundeen@gmail.com

Please help us get the word out. Pass this information on to all of your extended family so that they may attend if they are interested.

If he passed away in Boise, the Idaho Statesman would probably have the obituary. It did not run in the Idaho World, even though he was buried in Idaho City. There is a Joseph Parker buried here also. Dates would indicate a brother or nephew/cousin if they are related. May be he liked the area and requested burial here. Do you need a picture of the headstone, if there is one? I can't do it now due to the snow level, but spring would work. contact me directly at graves@graves-r-us.com.

Thank-you. I am new at this research stuff....sorry. The cemetary records say that the marker is a Relyea Funeral Home marker. I would assume that if a FH in Boise handled the arrangements, and the buriel was in Idaho City, that he was buried there because his family was from the Idaho City area. Any thoughts as to why there is no obituary? Thanks for your help.

Hi Jerald,
I'm not sure what info you're looking for but this is what I found. I found your family tree on Ancestry (your query should say you have a family tree on Ancestry).

I didn't find anything for Harry and Gertrude prior to 1930.

A good way to find out more about a family is to request copies of their obituaries. Go to raogk.org, read guidelines, choose Idaho, choose Ada Co. and choose one volunteer.

Maybe Harry's and Gertrude's parents will be mentioned in their obituary. If not, you might have to order copies of their death certs.

Also be careful when you're posting queries about people living in Boise, Ada Co., ID. You posted in Boise Co. which is not Boise city. Successful Searching!

Here is an article about a Metta Powell and an automobile accident, don't know if it is the same person; but this accident was in Boise area:

The Ogden Standard Examiner, Ogden, Utah,
August 20, 1928.

Drunken Driver Injures Four
Boise, Ida., August 20 (AP)
A woman and three children narrowly escaped serious injury Sunday night when a light truck they were driving from Emmett to Boise was sideswiped by another automobile.
The woman, Mrs. Metta Powell, was severely shaken and the children Ruth Ells and Geraldine and Max Hansen were bruised.
Lawrence Miles of Emmett, driver of the other car, was arrested by deputy sheriffs and charged with driving an automobile while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. He suffered a bad cut across the hand. His companion, Frank Hutton, also of Emmett, received a slight cut on the head. He was not booked at the sheriff's office.

Ron Bestrom

Newspaper lookup from 1941?

Would someone local be able to do a lookup in the March 9, or March 10 1941 newspaper for Boise?

I'm looking for an article about Metta J. Powell, who was killed in some type of vehicle accident. I understand there was a pretty good sized article about it perhaps.

really appreciate the help,
jcharb8@msn.com

Sounds interesting. My youngest daughter works in the Assessor's Office in Twin Falls County. I have researched Boise County and especially enjoy going to Idaho City.
Juvanne Martin, CG

Thanks. I mapped for the Boise Co. assessor's office for 6 months in the early '80's & it was interesting. People would peak in the courthouse windows & be surprised to see people working inside. My roots are in portions of the original Boise County that later became Gem and Valley counties.

Sharon, welcome. Congratulations on becoming the news GenWeb Master for Boise County. Personally, I have no connections to Boise County except getting married there. Does that count?
Juvanne Martin, Certified Genealogist
Nampa, Idaho
