Butte County Fair to open Tuesday, Aug. 15

The Butte County Fair will open Tuesday, August 15 at the fairgrounds in Arco, with a full schedule of events. Tuesday’s official events will open at 4:00 p.m. with 4-H Demonstration contests, followed by entry of all 4-H and open class exhibits. At 5:30, entries will be taken for one of the real ranch type contests, the team penning competition, which will begin at the rodeo grounds at 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday’s activities will open with entries of open class exhibits, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
At 6:00 p.m. action again moves to the rodeo grounds for entries in the team branding competition, which opens at 6:30.
4-H livestock will be entered from 4:30 to 7:30 Wednesday.
Thursday’s schedule includes the 4-H rabbit show and judging starts at 8:00 a.m. and small animals will be entered. The fair building exhibits will be open at 9:00 a.m. and the 4-H horse show begins at 10:00 a.m. The Kideo Rodeo will open at the rodeo arena at 7:00 p.m. with thrills and spills for the young cowboys and cowgirls.
Friday, August 18, will open for a very busy day with the opening of the farmers’ Market and opening of the fair exhibit building.
Livestock shows and competitions will fill the day Friday, and at 5:00 to 7:30 the 4-H barbecue will be held at the fair grounds and team roping sign-ups will open at 7:30 for the competition at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, the final day of the fair, will open with breakfast in the park at 7:30 a.m., followed by registration for the Dutch oven contest
Livestock quality competitions will open at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, and at 5:00 p.m. the market animal sale hospitality hour will open at the fair grounds.
Final event of the annual Butte County Fair will be the market animal sale at the fair grounds opening at 6:00 p.m.
