Claribel Mays Amy passes March 20
Our kind and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Clairbel Mays Amy, age 96, passed into the arms of her Savior on March 20, 2007, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center in Idaho Falls.
Clairbel was born February 21, 1911, in Howe, Idaho, a daughter to Robert G. Mays and Lucinda Boyd Mays.
She was raised in the Little Lost River Valley and graduated from Arco High School.
She married our father, Charles O. Amy on July 9, 1928, at Arco. She worked for the J. D. Little family as ranch cook and nanny to the Little’s children. In l944 they moved to Spencer, Idaho where they owned and operated general stores there and at Kilgore. After retirement, they moved to Idaho Falls. The last six years Clairbel has lived at the Lincoln Court Retirement Center in Idaho Falls.
Survivors include one sister Lorene Terry of Jordan Valley, Oregon; one son, Robert (Judy) Amy of Pocatello; two daughters, Pattie (Bill) Stauffer, Howe and Jean (John) Wheeler, Idaho Falls; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, fishing, gardening, and her family.
Clairbel was preceded in death by her husband Charley, a daughter Mary Lee Craig, two brothers, two sisters, a grand-daughter, and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services were Monday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Lost River Bible Church with Pastor Tom Bailey officiating. Burial was at the Howe Cemetery under direction of Bingham-Marvel Memorial Chapel 153 Lost River Ave. Arco, Idaho.
