Ilene E. Zemke, 80, of Arco, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, September 21, 2007. She was under the loving care of the Lost Rivers Living Center and the Lost Rivers Hospital.
Ilene was born June 1, 1927 in Prairie City, Oregon 45 seconds prior to the arrival of her twin sister Irene. She grew up and attended school in Circleville, Utah. Ilene and her sister moved to Burley, Idaho with family where she met her husband of 55 years, Lloyd Zemke.
In 1950 the couple made their home in Arco and resided there until 2002 when Ilene moved to Ammon, Idaho. She returned to Arco in August 2007 when her health required her to be closer to her daughter.
Mom was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling, playing cards and other games. Fishing was always a joy for her on her boat the “Ilene II”.
She was active in Jobs Daughters along with her daughter Marcia. She was also the secretary and president of the bowling leagues.
Ilene was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd F. Zemke, and her parents John and Vinnie Fox.
She is survived by her daughter Marcia (Larry) Wolcott of Arco, her twin sister Irene (Ralph) Hathaway of Idaho Falls, a brother James (Ginger) Fox of Rupert, grandsons, Lloyd (Lisa) Hollins of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Robert L. Hollins III of Florida and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Hawker Lost River Funeral Home. The family greeted friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, Idaho at 4:00 p.m. at which time she was laid to rest together with her husband.
