SODA SPRINGS - Lloyd Orlen Bennett, 74, of Soda Springs, passed away July 1, 2004, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs. Lloyd was born May 26, 1930, at Grace, the son of Lloyd Thomas and Lyla Fawn Weaver Bennett. He was raised and educated in Grace. He also lived in Perry, Utah, Portland, Ore., and the past 24 years in Soda Springs.
He was married to Venice Elaine Miles in 1951, in Niter; they were later divorced. He married Helen Bowler on July 4, 1971, at Elko, Nev.; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on May 29, 1999.
Lloyd was a high priest in the Soda Springs LDS First Ward. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and his family. He served in the Army from 1949 through 1950.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Helen, of Soda Springs; four sons, Nyle and Karma Bennett of Blanding, Utah, Michael and Teresa Bennett of Boise, Toni Bennett of Centerville, Utah, Bryan Bennett of Washington; also a stepson and stepdaughter, Craig and JoAnn Davis and Lora Lynne and Ed Kesch, all of Soda Springs; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Linda and Val Jensen of Preston, and LaDene and Jim Hume of Grace. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven K. Bennett; and a brother, LaMoine Bennett.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Soda Springs LDS First Ward Chapel in Soda Springs at Fourth South and Third East, with Bishop Mitchell Hart officiating. The family will meet friends on Monday evening, July 5, at the Sims Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday at the First Ward Chapel from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery, with military graveside services by the American Legion Post No. 50 of Grace. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
