SODA SPRINGS — Frank Echavarren, 75, of Soda Springs, passed away at his home on Friday, November 23, 2012. Frank was born on March 5, 1937, in Nagore, Navarra, Spain the son of Juan Echavarren and Luana Astiz.
Frank was raised in Nagore, Spain, attending primary, secondary and vocational schools there until he moved to Soda Springs, Idaho, in 1955. He then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1962.
He married Flora Mae Metzger on April 4, 1969, in Elko, Nevada, where they lived from 1969 to 1979 when they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho.
They moved to Santa Rosa, California, in 1979 until 2002 when they retired and moved back to Soda Springs, Idaho.
He had worked as a sheepherder, owned a bar and construction business and had worked as a maintenance manager for a hotel-resort.
He was a member of the Basque Group.
Frank in survived by his wife Flora Mae Echavarren and three stepsons, Mike and Esperanza Toupin of Santa Rosa, Calif., Roy and Vivienne Toupin of Petaluma, Calif., Carl Jr. and Darla Toupin of Soda Springs, Idaho, and 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and one brother Juan Jose Echavarren of Pamplona, Spain. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Noon at the Sims Funeral Home (139 E. 2nd S.) in Soda Springs. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday morning from 11 a.m. to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Caribou County Senior Citizens Center or the Caribou Memorial Hospital Foundation.
