COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Iris Lavon Bower Pratt Hill was born March 19, 1929, in Grace, Idaho, at the home of her grandmother. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Elmer Bower and Dora Stoddard Williamson. She is survived by her daughter and son, four grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

She grew up on a farm in Lava Hot Springs and loved animals, especially the little ones that needed help. Had she been born later in the 20th century, she would like to have been a veterinarian. Instead she worked at a variety of jobs including waitress, bookkeeper for an auto-wrecking yard, ward clerk at Bannock Memorial Hospital, floral designer, shop clerk and certified inspector of seed potatoes for the Department of Agriculture. She discovered a love of painting in her teens and attended many classes through the University of Idaho in the Salmon River country.
She loved working in watercolors.

She married Garald Pratt June 11, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had three children, Terry (John) Freeman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kenneth Pratt (deceased), and Barney Pratt of Jerome, Idaho. They were later divorced and she married Basil Hill (deceased) of Driggs, Idaho, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

She loved being back on a farm taking care of a large garden, chickens, lambs and calves. She took great pride in her food storage and loved to see all the jars lined up and ready to go. She and Basil wintered in Arizona for many years, where she loved the birds, the different landscape and climate.

Lavon passed away December 4, 2012, at the home of her daughter, in Colorado Springs, after a short illness.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 10 a.m., in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com  .
