TWIN FALLS • Emma Jean Smith Lakey, 86, of Twin Falls, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2013, at her home in Twin Falls. Emma Jean was born March 16, 1926, in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Edwin and Winifred Smith. She married Marlin Lakey on Nov. 19, 1943, in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Soda Springs for many years before moving to Enterprise, Ore., where they operated an International Harvester dealership. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and operated the Travel Lodge motel for many years. They retired and enjoyed spending time together on many trips.
Emma Jean is survived by her husband of 69 years, Marlin Lakey of Twin Falls; her five children, Connie Willett of Blaine, Wash., Caren Mitchoff of Redmond, Ore., LaRee Holscher of Redmond, Ore., Steve Lakey of Hazelton, Idaho, and Marty Lakey of Ketchum, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral for Emma Jean will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. E. in Twin Falls. A viewing for family and friends will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday morning at Reynolds Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at noon Friday, Jan. 25, at the Soda Springs Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho.
