Soda Springs: Lois LaVon Stoor, 78, of Soda Springs passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Soda Springs. She was born on October 4, 1934 in Soda Springs, Idaho the daughter of William Call Stoor and LaVon Smart.
Lois grew up in Soda Springs in the same home in which she passed away. She spent junior high and high school in Idaho Falls with her mother and step-father, graduating from high school there in 1952. She always loved to spend her summers in Soda Springs with her Gram (Esther) Smart, her aunts and uncles, Floyd and Hannah Smart, Del and Fern Deaton, and Chick and Gena Young and her many cousins.
Lois got an Associate Degree in Medical Transcription from Montana State University Northern in Havre, Montana in 1954. She came back to Soda Springs after graduating and got a job that summer at Monsanto Chemical Company. She worked there for 49 1/2 years, most of that time as personal secretary to the Plant Superintendant.
Lois was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent her life taking care of other people. First her grandmother Esther Smart, then her mother and finally her step-father Gilbert Korell.
She loved her schnauzer dogs and her beautiful birds. She was an avid gardener, did beautiful hand work and was a great cook. Lois was truly a saint and was dearly loved by all who know her.
She is survived by her Cousins, Michael (Louise) Young of Smithfield, UT, Jim (Carolyn) Young, Jerry (Candy) Young all of Soda Springs, ID, and Don (Peggy) Smart of Nashua, New Hampshire, Ralph (Susan) Smart of Salt Lake City, UT, Angus (Berniece) Smart, William (Janice) Smart all of Lyman, MT.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
