Leroy "Pete" Jay Stevens, 83, of Chubbuck passed away at his home on February 13, 2013. Leroy (Pete) was born in Mason City, Iowa on August 25, 1929, the son of Lloyd and Amy Hodson Stevens, the third of four children.
His early years were spent on a farm outside Plymouth, Iowa. He graduated from Plymouth High School, then served three years in the Air Force, stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota and Hamilton Field north of San Francisco. After finishing his service he returned to Iowa and managed the family farm. He married Ruth Leaman in May, 1954 and was blessed with three children, Rebecca Stevens of Pocatello, Laura Blash of Ketchum, and Jay Stevens, deceased.
In 1963 he moved to Iowa City, Iowa to attend the University of Iowa, finishing his education at Idaho State University. He was employed by the Eastern Idaho Production Credit Association for ten years, moving to Soda Springs in 1968 as the Soda Springs branch manager. From April, 1976 to June, 1990 he was self employed. He then joined Coates Field Service as a land agent. He enjoyed his many different postings throughout the United States. He retired from Coates in December, 2008, due to health issues.
Pete is survived by his wife and daughters, grandson, Derek Blash of Fort Collins, Colorado and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jay Stevens, his parents, and sister Ardith and brothers Adrian and Wendell.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Noon at the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church (109 S. 1st East). The family will visit with friends on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. to Noon at the Church prior to service. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
