El Dene Hirschi Robinson,67,of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home from multiple health problems. El Dene was born April 19, 1946 at Montpelier, Idaho to Daniel O. Hirschi and Susie Widmer Hirschi.
She spent most of her youth in the Thatcher, Idaho area. Her family rented a home on the Berdean Harris ranch, and Berdean provided a horse for her to ride and care for, which she spent many hours riding. She attended high school at Grace, Idaho and through her senior year she dated Paul Robinson and they were married the summer after graduation, July 21, 1964 in McCammon, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple on March 11, 1968.
On April 23, 1965 her first son, Kevin, was born. Her second son, Ron, was born March 13, 1967. Her third son, Stacey, was born December 16, 1968, and her fourth son, Brad, was born on March 15, 1970.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and especially enjoyed working in the ward library and as a visiting teacher. She always supported her sons in their sports and other activities they were in.
Her health started a downward spiral when she lost her son Ron on April 2, 1989. She struggled with many health problems including high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney failure, and heart problems, as well as having several falls which complicated things even more. She spent most of her married life in Soda Springs, Idaho. In April of 2012, she and Paul moved to Pocatello.
She loved all of her grandchildren, and supported them in all their activities, but has had a special relationship with her grandson, Taylor. Her oldest son Kevin passed away of unknown causes on July 12, 2012. She has always been a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, and sons, Stacey and Brad; eight grandchildren, Russell Sherman, Brock, Brody (Jessica), Shad, Shelton, Taylor, Shaely (Cory) Thompson, and Jasmine; one Great-Granddaughter, Reese, born on El Dene’s birthday in 2012. She is also survived by her mother, Susie Hirschi and her sister, Carolee (Roger) Empey.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Kevin and Ron, her father Daniel, a Brother LaVar Hirschi and her sister Marjean (Kenneth) Harrison.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church in Pocatello at 1700 Kinghorn. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 6-8 pm. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Tuesday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs at 3 p.m.
