Ten Mile Pass : Harry Dale Ayers peacefully returned to his Father in Heaven on May 27, 2013, at his home surrounded by loving family. Dale was born on November 5, 1934, and as he would say, “on a rock pile in ten mile pass,” Soda Springs, Idaho. His parents were William Dale and Louise Ayers. Dale graduated from Soda Springs High School and earned his welding certificate at ISU. He began attending college until his father passed away and he was required to move home and take over the family farm.
On August 1, 1953, Dale married his “Sunshine,” of almost sixty years, Verla Catherine Martin. Together they raised three boys and many crops. Dale was a great father and a wonderful grandpa. He taught them all he knew about farming and how to be good stewards of the land.
Dale loved farming. He was meticulous about the details of farming. He kept a daily journal of weather and crop conditions so that he could learn from his own personal farming history. He enjoyed being in the fields and working with family and friends on sowing and reaping a bountiful harvest. We have no doubt that Dale is now content to tend to the eternal fields of white above.
Dale was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dale had a spiritual nature and expressed the same though his membership and leadership in the Masons and Shriners.
Some of the hobbies that Dale enjoyed were, hunting, fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling, sports and supporting his kids, grandchildren, family and neighbors in their various sports and activities.
Dale had a golden smile. Many community children were the recipients of his gold dollars which he handed out like candy at Halloween. He will be missed by many. We already miss our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandpa but we know he is resting well with those who have predeceased him, including two of his sons, Rick and Curtis Ayers, his parents, William Dale and Louise Ayers, his brother Don Ayers and his sister Marjorie Seeley, and his mother and father in law, Kate and Cob Martin, and a brother in law, Wayne Turley.
Dale is survived by his wife, Verla, his son, Kris (Lindsey) Ayers, daughter in law Lisa Ayers, grandchildren Rikki (Doug) Wood, Jaime (Mark) Kirby, Lynzi (Aaron) Hobbs, Christi (Cade) White, Dusty (Melissa) Ayers, Kelli (Ryan) Duren, and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the Hooper Church in Soda Springs, Idaho. There will be a visitation on June 2nd, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home, and a visitation before the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners hospital. We love and miss you Dale.
