Eva McLain Modersitzki, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor passed away on July 21,2013 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs Idaho. She was born October 22,1921 in Bancroft Idaho to Calvert David and Mary Loretta Smith McLain, She was the 6th child of ten children, Lewis, Willis, Russell, Darrell, Virda McAtee, Farrell Nielson, Hyrum, Afton Jones and Loretta Barney, all of whom have preceded her in death.
While she was working at Howard’s Café, she met Fred Modersitzki. They were married December 6, 1945. Fred was the love of her life and together they raised their son, David.
Eva was a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Bancroft, then was transferred to the Soda Springs office. She retired from the telephone company in 1961.
She then worked in the business office at the old Soda Springs Hospital and helped move to the new Caribou Memorial Hospital under the administration of Pearl Fryer and continued to work their until she retired.
Eva was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . Through the years she kept in touch with her “ Sunday School kids”. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with her Pinochle Club friends. She and her dear friends, had an organized club for over 50 years.
She was a wonderful cook, her grandchildren will attest to that fact. She loved the neighborhood children and the ’county kids’ stopping by, her candy dish was always ready, her freezer full of popsicles, and an extra place set at her table.
Eva is survived by one son, David (Karen) Modersitzki, four grandchildren, Lisa(Phil) Yost, Scott (Charlotte) Modersitsitzki, Blake(Sandy) Modersitzki and Marc(Marci) Modersitzki, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fredinand Modersitzki, her parents and her 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
We love you Oma. May you rest in peace until we meet again.
Services will be Saturday July 27, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Bancroft Ward Chapel. Viewing on Friday evening 7:00-8:00 pm at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to services.
