Idaho State Journal, 09/26/13
Donna Lloyd Stoddard, 85, of Grace, passed away peacefully in her home with her family surrounding her on Monday, September 23, 2013. Donna was born in Central, Idaho on August 24, 1928, to Maud and Henry Lloyd. She was the seventh of eleven children.
Donna was a graduate of Grace High School where she was an excellent pitcher for the girls softball team. Following high school, Donna attended Utah State University and LDS Business College. She worked at the LDS Genealogical Society and as the Administrative secretary at Grace High School for many years.
Donna married Frank Henry Stoddard on January 25, 1952, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple, and together they had 2 children: Debra and Curtis.
Donna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She served as a full-time missionary in the Northern California Mission, as Relief Society president, Primary president, stake Young Women’s president, and was an active visiting teacher, among other callings. Donna was a great support to Frank for the many years he served as Stake President and Regional Representative. One of her favorite callings occurred when she and Frank were called to serve in the Logan, Utah temple and later as missionaries in the Nauvoo, Illinois temple where Frank was a Sealer.
Donna always took great care to raise beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubs. Her yard always looked immaculate and brought her great joy. Donna was the epitome of Christ-like service and unselfishness. She was an amazing cook, and shared that talent throughout the valley.
Hers was a home where the cookie jar was always full, towels were always fresh, and delicious food was always cooking on the stove. But her guests didn’t just leave with full stomachs. They would also leave with full hearts, having had their souls nourished by Donna’s faith in, and testimony of, Jesus Christ.
Donna was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two children: Debra (Royce) Pollock, of Panguitch, Utah, and Curtis (Jane) Stoddard, of Grace; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister: Ann Randall, of Grace; and 1 brother: Thomas Lloyd, of Logan.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Grace LDS Stake Center in Grace, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the stake center from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, and on Saturday prior to the services from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
