Emmorn Que Dodds, 60, passed away Friday October 4, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Emmorn “Slim” Dodds was born August 16, 1953 in Panguitch, Utah to James M. Dodds and Mae Vonn Alvey. A short time later, Mae Vonn married Arden Taylor, who loved and raised Emmorn as his own. Emmorn attended school in Escalante, UT and enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1971 – 1973.
After receiving an honorable discharge, Emmorn began working for Phillips Petroleum in Belen, New Mexico where he met and married Janet Lawson. From this union, three children were born. Rick (Kim) Dodds of Meeker, CO., Laurie Dodds of Craig, CO., and Randie (John) Roetker of Evanston, WY. They later divorced.
In 1985, Emmorn married Rita Perkins and was blessed with four more children. Jason (Deborah) Perkins of Taylorsville, UT., Craig (Lynnette) Perkins of Eagle Mountain, UT., Casey Perkins of Draper, UT and Aileen Perkins Stokes of Clinton, UT.
In 1988, Emmorn and Rita made their home in Grace, ID where he resided until his death. While in Grace, Emmorn worked for Treasure Canyon Calcium until his retirement in 2010.
Emmorns passions in life were his horses, his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Max. Emmorn was well known for breaking and training race horses, buying, selling and trading them. He was also very proud of each of his 17 grandchildren and spoke of them often.
He is survived by his wife Rita, his mother Mae Von Taylor of Escalante, UT., his children Rick, Laurie, Randie, Jason, Craig, Casey and Aileen, 17 grandchildren, brother Jerry (Monica) Taylor of Escalante, UT., sister Janalee (Louie) Bernardo of Escalante, UT., brother Jimmy (Ethel) Taylor of South Jordan, UT., brother David (Cindy) Dodds of Panguitch, UT., and brother Bud Dodds of Panguitch, UT. He was preceded in death by his father, Arden Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, October 9 at the Grace LDS Stake Center, in Grace, ID. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs, ID and on Wednesday, October 9 prior to the services from 10:30-11:30. Emmorn will return to his home Escalante, Utah. Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Escalante Stake Center. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30-10:30.
