C. Dee Hansen passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013 at the age of 82. Dee was born in August 23, 1931 in Grace, Idaho to James Hansen, Jr. and Rosezella Skinner. He was the oldest boy of 14 siblings. Being the oldest boy, he grew up with strong work ethics. He was raised in very humble circumstances. Dee completed an honorable two-year mission in the Southern States.
He came to Salt Lake and worked for a magazine company. Through one of the employees there, he met his "one and only" June Carol Soderberg on August 17, 1960 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 18, 1961.
He worked for the Salt Lake Fire Department for 20 years. He also worked for NAC (Media One) as a carrier for 10 years and then as a driver for another 10 years.
Dee was never idle. He worked in between his two jobs fixing anyone's car that had a problem. He was always giving to his siblings, wife, family and friends.
Dee was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. Some of his hobbies were playing pool, taking pictures, reading, learning things on the computer and watching Jazz games while eating M&Ms.
He enjoyed teaching a Sunday School class for over 10 years and was a devoted home teacher.
Dee is survived by his sisters, brothers, wife and children Teresa (William) Taylor, Troy (Eva) Hansen, Camille (Mark) Wooten, and Bry (Andrea) Hansen. Also survived by 17 grandkids, 5 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, son Blake, 4 sisters and sister in law Erma Shaeffer.
Funeral services Monday, December 2, 11 a.m., in the East Midvale 1st Ward, 240 East 7570 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the ward Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery. www.goffmortuary.com
