Thank you John. It is my grandmother. I'm trying to find out what cause of death was as she was only 44.

The only obit I can find is in Porterville, Utah where she is buried and it's only a notice, probably because everyone knew everyone in town.

The Idaho Death Certificate Index does not list a Nancy Salinas which opens a couple of possibilities. First is that her death certificate was missed or mis-transcribed in the index. I have not seen this happen more than a couple of times. The second is that no death certificate was filed. That was contrary to the laws, but it happened more often than you might think. I have seen it happen several times in Cassia County and they were all where a person died of natural causes related to old age and were in a rural area of the county. Apparently the family buried the deceased without any involvement of law enforcement or undertakers.

I'd suggest checking all variations of the surname on the byu-Idaho site or reading the local newspaper to see if there is an obituary (which might provide a clue about why no dc). If a death certificate can be shown to exist, the folks at the byu-Idaho site will send you a copy.

John

You want a copy of "the" certificate?
I can ask but I think it's a little iffy if they'll have it. 1930 predates the current courthouse and it moved cities.
Get back to you.

This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen. Phone: 503-396-2178 OR email: brandonsundeen@gmail.com

Please help us get the word out.
Hi,
I see you found his Last Residence info on the Social Security record. The Social Sec. uses this field for their own purposes and it does NOT guarantee that was his last residence.

The State of Idaho won't release death info (unless family member) until 50 years after the death. Therefore, we'll use the Burley info because we don't have any other to find his obituary.

There is an obituary volunteer for Burley (Cassia) Co. at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~obitl/voli...
Scroll down to Cassia Co and choose Lois.

If she can't find it, contact Janette but please DON'T ask both of them at the same time.

I didn't find any info For Myrtle.

Their burial information will be in their obituary or on their death certificates. Since you can't get a copy of their death certs, the following is a list of cemeteries in their county (I looked and they're not listed in FindAGrave).
Cassia County Historical Records, http://usgwarchives.org/id/cassis/history.html

Tombstone Transcription Project, www.usgwtombstones.org/idaho/cassia.html

Cassia County Cemeteries, http://usgwarchives.org/id/cassia/cemetery.html

Interment.net

Cassia County, Idaho Cemetery Records, www.accessgenealogy.com/cemetery/idaho/cassia_county.htm
Successful Searching!

You won't have to look for a bunch of records "trying" to locate divorces or marriages. The below identifies his son, Edwin, Jr. His obit identifies his wife, sons, daughters, etc. Look for them on www.zabasearch.com

Gravesite of Edwin James Lynch, Jr.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=ly...;
born Jan 13, 1923, died Jan 24, 2005,

His obituary: 1/28/205, the South Idaho Press
EDWIN J. LYNCH
-Edwin James Lynch, 82 year old Burley resident died Monday, January 24, 2005, at his home in Burley.
-He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Bentonville, Ark., the son of Edwin James and Zoe Dorris Lynch. He graduated in 1941, from Vale High School in Vale, Ore.
-He joined the U.S. Army and during World War II he served for 19 months overseas in the European Theatre, where he worked in a military post office.
-Following the war he met and married his first wife, Mary in New York City. They were later divorced. Edwin worked for the U.S. Post Office in Vale, Ore., and later in Kimberly until his retirement. He also worked for many years at Safeway in Twin Falls while at the same time he worked as a rural postal carrier. In November of 1977, he married Geneieve Pemberton Yarbrough in Rupert.
-Survivors include his wife, Geneieve of Burley; two sons, Tom (Marilyn) Lynch of San Rafael, Calif., and Tim Lynch of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Annamarie Dean of Spokane, Wash., and Cathy Ailport of Seattle, Wash.; three step sons, James (Janet) Yarbrough of Redding, Calif., Gary Yarbrough of Norman, Okla.; and Quinn (Sharon) Yarbrough of Burley; a step daughter, Mona (Don) Jones of Norman, Okla.; and a sister, Nona Barnes of Nampa; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step daughter, Sharon Adams and a daughter-in-law, Paulette Yarbrough.
-Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Truth Tabernacle, 2459 Hiland Ave. in Burley, with Pastor Quinn Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in the Declo Cemetery.
-Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main Street in Burley on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church from noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral on Saturday.

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

Hi Don,
An Edwin J. Lynch
Died: 13 March 1958, Umatilla Co., Oregon per death cert #3564.
Spouse: Glemma.
Source: Oregon Death Index 1903-98.

I searched for a Glemma Lynch but didn't find her but she could have married again.

Do you have a copy of Edwin's obituary? There is an obituary volunteer for Umatilla Co. at Random Acts Genealogical Kindness. Go to raogk.org
Choose Oregon
Click on N thru Z
Scroll down to Umatilla Co. and choose Jessica.

If that doesn't work out, contact the Pendleton Public Library, pendleton.plinkit.org/ .

I think it's interesting that the death info for Zoe Dor [field often shortened] Lynch shows her spouse's name as Jerome.

Do you have a copy of Zoe's obituary? There is an obituary volunteer at RAOGK for Malheur Co. too.

If that doesn't work out, contact PublicLibraries.com/oregon/malheur.htm .

I don't know where to tell you to look for his marriage to Glemma. They could have been married in South Fruitland, ID or Umatilla Co., OR and anywhere in between. It's the same answer for finding his and Zoe's divorce info too. Why don't you wait until you get copies of the obituaries which might provide clues on where to look.

The children you listed might not be all the children he had but his obituary should help with that question.

The 1940 Census will be issued in 2012 but who knows how long it will take to have it indexed. That will certainly provide you with more info. Successful Searching!

Most libraries have microfilms, but most do not do obituary lookups due to the time cost, and most library workers don't want to stare at microfilms all day doing lookups. The Historical Society charges $10.00 in research fees (payable even if they don't find one), plus copy fee, mail fee. If they don't find one, you are being dependent on the person looking. I just recently exchanged emails with a person that had paid for an obit, one wasn't found. She found one later, in the same area, same newspaper as requested.

So, first, let's do some background:

The Social Security Death Index shows a Raye Suddreth, born 3 May 1916, died 16 Nov 2000. "Last residence" was in Burley, Cassia Co, ID. The "last residence" on the SSDI is NOT always where the person actually lived, or had lived when they had died. The Social Security Administration calls this as "home of record." This address could be for a number of things besides where they actually lived. This person had SSN 519-01-7278, issued in Idaho before 1951.

There is a Ray E. Suddreth, born about 1916, enlisted into the military in 1941.

A Ray E. Suddreth, born 3 May 1916 was living at 524 Lincoln Ave, Grangeville, ID in 1982 and in 1993.

US Phone and Address Directory:
Identified he lived in Garden Valley, Idaho, from 1996-2002 (name probably still in the directory due to his spouse (Vivian) still residing at the address).

Ray E. Suddreth, born 3 May 1916, died 16 Nov 2000, is buried in the Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, Boise, ID, 83704. He was a Captain in the US Army Air Corp WWII.

There is a family tree posted online that has this person. It shows a wife and three male children "living." This family tree identified he died in Grangeville.

There appears to be enough background information to indicate you won't find an obit in Burley, but in Grangeville, Idaho County, ID. There is one volunteer that looks for obits in the Idaho Free Press on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness:
http://www.raogk.org/idaho2.htm

For his family: www.zabasearch.com Just enter last name and Idaho.

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

Hi Jan,
I found a Harms Family Tree on Ancestry which contains the Hunter family. I asked the owner to contact you.

I'd contact the Cassia County Museum and they appear to be connected to their genealogy society too. Go to cassiacounty.org/historical-society/museum.htm .

Also go to your local library and ask about books regarding Cassia County. If Hyrum helped found the county, his picture should appear in an early book about the county. Then ask your library to do an inter-library loan on the book.

You could try to trace Hyrum's descendants. Request a copy of Hyrum's obituary from Random Acts Genealogical Kindness. Go to raogk.org/, read guidelines, choose Idaho, choose Cassia Co. and choose one volunteer.

He had one daughter Elsie Elzina Hunter who died in 1990 but it doesn't appear that she married. A Wilford Elmo Hunter died in 1978. Successful Searching!

Edward was the newphew of Edward Hunter, general 3rd Bishop of the LDS church. Both Edward and his uncle Edward were part of the Mormon battalion and friends of Hyrum and Joseph Smith. I have pictures on Edward, but looking for Hyrum and Elsie or any of the Hunters, really.

I did some additional attempts on Alice and her children in Illinois. Also some on the McHenry "potential". Nothing found of concrete nature.

Since the correct Alice was born in Illinois, then was there for the birth of Leslie in 1912/13, I'd suggest working that area first. Attempt to obtain a birth certificate of Leslie (unless Illinois law has a 100 year prohibition).

I tried to find them in the 1930 census; however it was not transcribed to identify birth place of parents, so much larger lists of criteria facts are given, which requires individual review of images. For example, the 1930 Census has 84 "Alice" born 2 years of 1872/1873, but that was only a listing for Chicago, Cook County, IL. If I could have directed a search using parents State of birth, that would have helped.

There is microfilm for the birth years of Illinois 1872/73; also for 1912/13. There are microfilms for the death indices. I can't find suitable online databases that might help in the research, although I had searched death indices for the name of Stoltz, McHenry, Cornell, without success.

Volunteers are a plenty for Cook County, IL on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. READ the guidelines first:
http://www.raogk.org/illinois.htm

Although it indicates links for Jewish Genealogy, it is a great listing of indices for all. It will give you some ideas:
http://www.jewishgen.org/Infofiles/Chicago/private_orgs_chgo...

I'd suggest the usual birth, death, obit searches. Give the volunteer the information you have.

Ron Bestrom

The 1910 Census as described: Owning in Twin Falls.
Jacob F. Stoltz, age 38, born in Pennsylvania to both parents in PA
Alice, 37, born in Illinois to father born New York, mother Ohio
Eleanor, 3/12, born in Idaho
--The writing is clearly Eleanor. The below family tree identifies they had two children. The census was enumerated 21st of June, so this child was born late Feb/March 1910.

---Family Tree Found------
That lead to a family tree posted by a JRBeal22. This isn't you? If so, you've obtained your information since your posting. If not:

It showed Jacob was born 13 April 1872 in Hepburn Twp, Lycoming Co, PA, died in Chicago, Cook Co, IL. (This could be an assumption based on Alice being in Chicago in the 1920 Census).

Alice Beal, shown as born about 1858 in Illinois to a Philip P. Beal 1832, and Leah Hoover 1835; both born in PA. However, this could be the wrong Alice, or wrong DOB. OR, it could be the correct Alice Beal, but the wrong person to whom she married.
--There was an Alice Beal matching that information, living with that family in the 1870 Census.
---BUT the 1910 Census for the Correct Alice shows her parents were born in New York and Ohio. The 1920 Census for the correct Alice shows the same thing. So this Alice Beal is NOT the correct person married to Jacob Stoltz.

I am leaving this information posted in the event others may attempt to connect this person to Stoltz.
----------------

The 1900 Census for Porter, Richardson Co, Nebraska
Jacob Stolz, born April 1872 in PA, is living with his parents William July 1846; and Mary May 1843.

The 1920 Census shows Alice B. Stoltz, 47, born IL, to father born in NY, mother in OH, Divorced, living with Elaine 9, and Leslie 7(dau). Leslie was born in Illinois.
--Leslie would have been born about 1912/1913. Both parents may have moved to Illinois by/before the birth. The divorce could have happened at any time to the enumeration date in 1920.

The 1900 Census for Illinois.
There were 12 Alice's living in Illinois in the 1900 census where the parents were born in Ohio and New York. Of these 12, six were wives (although still possible as someone in their first marriage, second to Stoltz). Of the others, one's parents birth was reversed. Four other daughters had the wrong middle initial. Of all 12, something was present to eliminate, having children, wrong initial, etc. The one remaining was "Alice B. McHenry"

The 1900 Census for Chicago, Cook County, renting 2606 N. Paulina
Emma A. McHenry, born Aug 1843 in Ohio to father born in Maryland, mother in Pennsylvania, shown as married, mother of 4/2 living.
Alice B, born Dec 1872 in Illinois to father born in NY, mother in Ohio
Gratia D. born March 1880 in IL.
---While this method has been successful on many other searches, I don't have enough information to confirm. Do you have the birth date of "Your" Alice? Was she Alice B?
---This also takes into consideration that the correct Alice was living in Illinois in 1900. But, since the correct one moved back to Illinois by 1912/1913, I would have to "speculate" she had lived there before Idaho. So from the time of marriage, 1907/1908, to 1912/1913, she would have only been gone five to six years.

Here is information on obtaining Idaho marriage and birth records:
http://healthandwelfare.idaho.gov/Families/BirthDeathMarriag...
As written birth records are confidential for 100 years. Elaine was born about 100 years ago in 1910. Her record would be obtainable under the law. It might have the mothers maiden name. BUT, this site indicates the State records only go back to 1911 (a year/two before Leslie was born). The County might have it.

Marriage/divorce records are only confidential for 50 years, but again this site only has them from 1911. So you would have to contact the CORRECT County where they married.
For their marriage. You can assume they were in Twin Falls in 1910 as that is where they were found in the Census. He was owning his property, so that put some connection to the area. It appears Elaine/Eleanor was "possibly" born in Twin Falls around March. The census identifies Jacob and Alice were married two years...from the time of the census. So, they could have been married in July 1907 to June 1908. Jacob was in Nebraska in the 1900 Census. We don't know where Alice was living. They "could" have met and married in Nebraska, or both were living in Idaho when they met and married. I suspect, based on the scenario above, but speculating, Jacob was in Chicago for some purpose in 1900 to 1907, and this is where they met. But, once you've read that, throw it out.

Possible marriage for Gratia McHenry, born about 1881, married Joseph B. Cornell, about 1874 in Chicago, on 14 Dec 1910.

I'll come back to this later, do some additional on the McHenry's. If you have Alice's full birth, that will help.

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

Hi,
It looks like Alice and Jacob were married in Twin Falls County, Idaho. The 1910 Census shows they had been married two years. Twin Falls County was created in 1907.

I didn't find their marriage in FamilySearch or Brigham Young University-Idaho. However you can contact the Twin Falls County Clerk, 208-736-4004 and ask about a 1908 marriage certificate.

If they don't have it, contact the Cassia County Idaho Clerk and ask them.

By 1920 Alice had divorced and moved to Chicago with her two girls, Elaine and Leslie. Leslie was born in Illinois.

They were living there in 1930 too. Successful Searching!

Today, I received an off-list email from Kathy. I don't respond off-list for research or questions (except for very rare occasions, or to thank someone for comments, or agree with them about other information received was wrong). I like to keep all research ON list, for the benefit of future researchers using the archives. Here is the email and answers:

----- Original Message -----
From: "AzGibsonClan"
Sent: Sunday, October 18, 2009 9:03

> You talked about my great grandmother Lula Allen and not being able to
> find her in the 1900 census, she actuually is named Thisbe Louise Allen
> and is in the 1900 Utah census living with her family. Her father is Daniel
> Allen and they lived in Teasdale,Ut where she was born.

I could not find her living in Teasdale in 1900. I did find the below:
The 1900 Census for Orangeville, Emery Co, Utah
Daniel Allen, born Jan 1838, 42, born in Utah to father born in Oio, mother in Tennessee
Georgina, born August 1866, 33, born in Utah to father born in Ohio, mother in England.
Louisa, born Nov 1886, 13, born in Utah
Knoltan(as written, probably Knowlton), born January 1889 in Utah
John R, born Jan 1889 in Utah
Willard C, born July 1893 in Utah
Amy A, born Dec 1895 in Utah.
Nettie G. Allen, born Feb 1899 in Utah.

The US Census and the Social Security Death Index shows her age a bit later than 1886. The SSDI shows Nov 1888, which is more consistent with her age as listed in the Census. This might just be an enumerator error.

While there is not enough information for me to accept this is the correct family, I found three other family trees on Ancestry.com that shows this is the family of Louisa. Although three other's have this family, I would have to be provided additional information for proof. BUT, it is not necessary in this search, as her family is not in contention.
---From one of the trees:
Thisbe Louise (Lula) Allen, born 30 Nov 1886 in Teasdale, Wayne Co, UT, died 29 Mar 1981 in Burley, Cassia, ID, buried Marion Cemetery, Oakley, Cassia Co, ID.
Father: Daniel James Allen, born 2 Jan 1860 in Provo, UT, died 8 Dec 1928 in Cascade, Valley Co, ID.
Mother: Martha Georgenia Hanks, 20 August 1867 in Parley Park, Summit Co, UT. Died 12 Jan 1902 in Orangeville, Emery, UT.

> Our problem is finding where where my ggrandfather came from and his
> family. I do have a copy of their marriage certificate and it states he was
> from Sweden, I tend to lean that way only because he was the one giving
> the info. On the census there are different birth places because there
> probably were different people giving the info.

While there isn't PROOF that he came from Sweden, that information is consistent with information found. Although the history of events in Scandinavia at the time might have a roll in where he actually lived (Norway was part of Sweden. I had found several persons identified as being Swedish, while in fact they were Norwegians). I don't question the fact he came from Sweden.

> I would love to find out his place of naturalization but I am confused as
> where to begin to look. He claimed to live in Moline,Ill and he married my
> ggrandmother in Quincy,Plumas,Ca then they moved to Id where he lived
> until he died. He claimed to work his way out west from Ill working on the
> railroad so I don't which state to look. If you might any advice as to how to
> determine this it would be greatly appreciated. ...Any advice you may have
> is greatly appreciated.

A family tree by "Charles" CIDEka@aol.com shows her marriage was 19 June 1907 in Quincy, Plumas County, CA. Charles also wrote:
Note: SOURCE: Ancestral File, ver 4.16 / IGI,1994, ver 3.05; Ba: H002084; C ONFLICT: gives dob 30 Nov 1887 / Fam Rec in Poss Charles Irwin Davis , 279 Hillsdale St, Eureka, CA 95501-1720 [ca 1995] [Copied from unda ted Family Group Records, original origin and sources unknown]; Alter nate Spelling: Lulu ALLENSOURCE: Ancestral File, ver 4.16 / IGI,1994 , ver 3.05; Ba: H002084; CONFLICT: gives dob 30 Nov 1887 / Fam Rec i n Poss Charles Irwin Davis, 279 Hillsdale St, Eureka, CA 95501-1720 [ ca 1995] [Copied from undated Family Group Records, original origin a nd sources unknown]; Alternate Spelling: Lulu ALLEN

Her mother died in Orangeville, 1902, she married in Quincy, CA, in 1907. Both Orangeville and Quincy are SMALL communities. By 1910, they were in Twin Falls, ID. Twin Falls "should" have a city directory (listing of persons living in a populated area) by 1910. Although that far back, most had listings of the head of household and didn't show the spouse, but you might get lucky. IF there is such a listing, it might show them in an earlier edition than 1910 (1908 if you're REALLY lucky, 1909 possibly). After 1910, it should show them, then they disappear, showing about the time they moved to Cassia County. You would need to post in Twin Falls.

As to his naturalization. I did give you a link where you could ask for the research, it does cost $20.00 just for the information, then another $20.00 to $35.00 for the documents. But, first, I would try the less costly approach. To become naturalized (again, read the link first link for the process of naturalization I had given you), the person must file in court his Declaration of Intent (to immigrate). It is done in the Superior Court of the County where he lived, or at a US District Court. The US District Courts in Idaho were in Boise, Pocatello, Coeur d'Alene, and Moscow. I wouldn't think he would have gone to one of those. My GUESS, again it is MY GUESS, "IF" he filed at all, it would have been in Twin Falls. The 1910 census "indicated" he had filed, (the "Pa" on the Census). With his moving around, single, until 1906, I (My Guess) would think he just didn't do it. After 1906, his wife "might" have pushed the issue (My Guess). But, in ANY Event, you're first logical place to look is in Twin Falls. Idaho uses the system of seven judicial districts, each with its own administrative judge who is chosen for the post by the district’s other judges. Each county has a District Court, which includes a Magistrate Division. Each District Court also has its own set of rules. There are 41 district judges and 87 magistrate judges in the state. Twin Falls AND Cassia County are in the 5th District.
http://www.co.twin-falls.id.us/5thDistrict2/index.htm
each having a separate court. A call (or visit) to the court clerk could be made to ask about their immigration records. I would suggest a LOCAL volunteer to try that. As the immigration process link I gave you yesterday shows, some court clerks do not know the process or genealogy for that matter, so they just might say the records were given to NARA. A LOCAl researcher would know how to ask them.

For a local researcher, again...Try the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness volunteers:
Twin Falls: http://www.raogk.org/idaho2.htm
Cassia County: http://www.co.twin-falls.id.us/5thDistrict2/index.htm
Ask the Twin Falls person first (READ THE GUIDELINES). Ask them to look look for immigration records at the District Court in Twin Falls. The Court Clerk would HAVE to know they have them. Also ask if there are City Directories (Polks) back to 1910 (back to about 1900) and forward to about 1920. If so, look for Albert Anderson (there may be more than one, HOPEFULLY one would show his spouse).
Then, after the Twin Falls person provides an answer, then go to the Cassia County and ask the same thing.

If you want to pay the search fee of $20.00, go ahead and try the link given yesterday. One other reason I don't believe he was naturalized: To obtain land under the Homestead Act, you have to prove naturalization. He didn't obtain farm land in this manner. BUT, he may not have wanted to, he may have obtained land in another way, he may not have known about the system.

Twin Falls Rootsweb Board:
http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ida...

Ron Bestrom

In my reply of last night, I wrote:
> --The "Pa" is to the question whether naturalized or alien. The abbreviation means "Papers", _NOT_ Pending Application as indicated by the other. (I had brought this to their attention before). This means he has filed his papers for citizenship. The process was a FIVE year process.

I'll add more to this explanation. In the instructions to the enumerators is found for the 1900 Census:
151. Column 18. Naturalization.—If the persons is a native of the United States, leave the column blank. If he was born abroad, and has taken no steps toward becoming an American citizen, write "Al" (for alien). If he has declared his intention to become an American citizen and taken out his "first" papers, write "Pa" (for papers). If he has become a full citizen by taking out second or final papers of naturalization, write "Na" (for naturalized).

THAT was the instruction, and also where "Pa" is used. In my comment of last night, I also said:
>"It is not known if these papers was his Declaration of Intention; or the Petition for Citizenship."

While that is not true based on the instructions, I have found persons having filed their petition for naturalization still being shown incorrectly as "Pa" by the enumerator.
So, the correct comment should be:
"IF" the enumerator was accurate in the use of "Pa", then the person had filed his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen; BUT, if they were not accurate, the person "might" have filed his Petition for Citizenship and not yet naturalized.
In the case of Albert Anderson, finding his naturalization documents would prove the answer. But, if he arrived in 1885/1890 as identified on census forms, and had not been naturalized by 1910, it is "my" thought, he hadn't. Naturalization was easier before 1906; but perhaps under the 1906 law, he decided he had better apply.

Ron Bestrom

Kathy,

I did a quick search on Ore-Ida, but couldn't find any reference to Anderson's. But, since it is not really what you need, I only post the following:
"Ore-Ida Potato Products, Inc. was founded by Idaho farmers F. Nephi Grigg and his brother Golden Grigg in 1952 with the development of a potato-processing facility located in Oregon, near the border of the state of Idaho.

Your other posting on this family:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/thread.aspx?o=0&m=236.3&p...

You already have the 1930 Census information from the above, you may also have the other census data, But, I will add pertinent information and correct errors made by the other "poster".

You had indicated Lula was born "Allen". I did a search for her in the 1900 census, without "confirmed" success. I also searched for Albert Anderson, there was one in Mullen, Idaho, but nothing to even begin to confirm. If you have full dates of birth, it is important to post them in your inquiries. Always post sufficient information that you have to help the researcher. I can go back to look if you have that.
Also, this "Albert Anderson" was born in Sweden, around 1877. The naming system "patronymics" was still in effect at the time. So, Anderson was probably not a "surname" as we know it. It meant simply, son of Anders. So, he could have been Andersson, Andersson, Anderson. His missing brothers might not have taken that name, but instead took the farm name, or the name of the area where they had lived. This is common. If he had "jumped ship", he might not have even been an Anderson. Scandinavian parish records are very good; but you need to do the research here first.

The 1910 Census for Milner, Twin Falls County, Idaho, enumerated 23 May, 1910.
Albert Anderson, age 34, born in Sweden to both parents born in Sweden, immigrated 1890, "Pa", speaks English, employed as a Teamster/own team. He was married 4 years. They were renting their property.
Lula T, age 22, born in Utah to both parents born in Utah, mother of two/both living.
Albert L, 2, born in California
Daniel V(appears to be "V"), age 9/12, born in California.
--The "Pa" is to the question whether naturalized or alien. The abbreviation means "Papers", _NOT_ Pending Application as indicated by the other. (I had brought this to their attention before). This means he has filed his papers for citizenship. The process was a FIVE year process. It is not known if these papers was his Declaration of Intention; or the Petition for Citizenship. For the process, see:
http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/naturalization/naturalizat...
You can try to get a copy of his immigration documents...costly, but worth it.
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b...
If found, these documents should show where in Sweden he lived.
--Daniel was shown as 9/12ths. The census was enumerated on 23 May. So, Daniel was born about July/August 1909...IF the enumerator was correct in math. (He was born 7 July, so the math was a bit off).

The 1920 Census for the Boulder Farm District, Cassia County, ID, enumerated on 2 January 1920, by Emma McIntosh. Enumeration District 131, Supervisors District No 2.
Albert A. Anderson, age 45, born in "Utah?"(as written on the form) to both parents born in Sweden, farmer/general farm. Owned his property.
Lulu, age 31, born in Utah to both parents born in the United States
Albert Jr, 12, California
Vaness, 11, California
Raymond 9, California
-------Also in 1920:
The 1920 Census for Locust, Cassia County, Idaho, enumerated 1 Feb. by W.A. Martin (as appears). Enumeration District 136, Supervisors District 2
Anderson (no first name provided), age 47, born in Illinois to both parents born in Sweden, farmer/general farm
Lula, 32, born in Utah to both parents born in Utah
Albert 12 11/12, born in CA (based on enumeration date, born about March 1907).
Vaness 11 6/12, CA (still appears to be born about July/August, but now about 1908)
Raymond 9 4/12, Idaho. (born about Oct/Nov 1910)
--If both of these 1920 Census are correct, Lulu born sometime in January, as she aged 1 year between these two enumerations.
---The names of "Locust" and "Boulder Farm District" are Precinct names, not necessarily the names of towns.
---The OTHER poster identified "They must have moved to Locust, Cassia Co. later in 1920". There is no proof that they moved. The only "Fact" we have is they were counted twice by two different persons. Also notice, BOTH enumerations were in Enumeration District 131, Supervisor's District 2. So, it "appears possible" that BOTH enumerations were done at the SAME PLACE. The ONLY way to determine the facts are property records at the Cassia County Assessor. The map for the enumeration district could also help in determination. Guessing has no place in genealgoy research.
--another problem in both enumerations is the wrong birth place of Albert, and also the unknown birth places of both of Lula's parents. This "sometimes" is caused by someone other than the persons giving the information. I have also seen families having "similar" backgrounds appearing to be the same; but there probably is not another family in this location having ALL of the similarities.

The 1930 Census for Locust, Cassia County, ID, enumerated April 5th
Albert Anderson, 53, born in Sweden to both parents born in Sweden, immigrated in 1885, "Na"(means naturalized), farmer, owned his property.
Lula C, 40, born in Utah to both parents born in Utah.
Vaness, 20, born in California, laborer/farm
Raymond C, 19, born in Idaho, laborer/general farm
--last name on previous page
Albert Anderson, age 22, first marriage age 22, born in California, to father born in Sweden, mother in Utah, farmer, is renting.
Ora, age 17, married at 17, born in Idaho to both parents born in Utah.

The Social Security Death Index, Lula Anderson, born 30 Nov 1888, died March 1981, "last residence" Burley, Cassia Co, ID. The "last residence" is not always where a person actually lived, but in this case, probably so.

Albert L. Anderson, married Oct 19, 1929, in Burley, Cassia Co, to Ora Martin. Record can be found in the marriage book at the County Courthouse in Cassia Co, ID, Volume 4, page 304. (County Auditor's office).

The Social Security Death Index:
Albert Anderson, born 5 Jan 1908, died Nov 1983, "last residence" in Burley, Cassia Co, ID.

This page shows a funeral notice for Albert "Shorty" Anderson in Burley, 1949. http://www.idahohistory.net/Index/I%20B%20I_A_2006_sorted.pd...

Vanness Anderson married Verda Cole on 7 March 1931 at American Falls, Power Co, Idaho.

Vanness D. Anderson born 7 July 1909, died 26 Dec 1991 in Burley.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ has a database of land obtained through the Homestead Act:
http://www.legendsofamerica.com/AH-Homestead.html has land obtained by this family. Click on "Search Land Patents". Enter your Zip Code, click on the tab for "Standard". Enter last name of "Anderson", County of "Cassia".
On the two pages, you will find land obtained by Albert (Jr), Raymond C. and Vanness. Click on the name of Vanness, you will see he obtained 280 acres of land on March 9, 1955. Click on the tab for Legal Land Description.
This shows his land was in Township 13-S(South), Range 22-East
a. Section 1, the West half of the South West Corner
b. Section 1, the South West part of the NW corner
c. Section 2, The East half of the SE corner
d. Section 2, the SE partof the NE corner
e. Section 11, the Northeast part of the Northeast corner.
If you do not know where this land was located, repost and I can show you how to find it via your computer.
There is no record of the land owned by Albert Sr, so he probably bought it privately.

I found a family tree posted on Ancestry.com, owned by a "Lyssrobles". It shows Vanness Anderson was born 7 July 1909, died 26 Dec 1991, in Burley, Cassia Co. son of Shorty Anderson, married Verda Cole and three children. It showed no additional information on Shorty.

I don't know where you live, but for Cassia County, you need a LOCAL researcher. There are two volunteers listed on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. Read the guidelines first. You can't ask more than one person at a time. http://www.raogk.org/idaho.htm

I did try to find newspaper records, information from books, without success.

Enough on this tonight. If you do "write a book", post the source of the information, such as the census records, marriage records. You don't need to identify the name of persons that find it for you, ESPECIALLY if the information is wrong.

Ron Bestrom

I just wanted to say that I am the grandchild of Claude Raymond Lattimer. My dad was Dick Lattimer and was the child of Claude and his first wife Vita Viola Nation. I don't know what information you have but I would love to know if there is a connection with my family of Lattimers and a Rollie Lattimer and Vina Lattimer from Nebraska.

From what I could find out it was four men who helped found Burley. They were Josiah E. Miller, William T. Jack, W. L. Burton and S. H. Hayes. It was originally named Commerce but later changed to Burley in honor of a passenger agent for the Oregon Short Line Railroad named David E. Burley.
I couldn't find anything on Bernard Farr.
