I have found mentioned in the Idaho Falls Times newspaper a place called Hole in the Rock Ranch in Cedar Flats, Idaho. It seemed to get many visitors during the 1916 through 1920 time period. It is possible that an Ed Awald owned the ranch. I found that Ed Awald had land in Bonneville County as per Bureau of Land Management records: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/
The nearby places to Ed Awald's property is Twentymile Rock and Taylor Well:http://www.esg.montana.edu/cgi-bin/gl?113.22642.336111.89743...
On the topo map of the area there is a Neck Mountain located in the area that Mr. Awald owned. It is 5,351 feet high.
It seems like the people who lived in Cedar Flats traveled to Idaho Falls and Rexburg, so maybe Cedar Flats was in the area.
There is a Cedar Flats on the Nez Perce reservation located on the Selway River in Idaho but that seems to be a ways from Idaho Falls.
I don't know if any of this will help answer your question, but I thought I would try.
