HURRICANE, Utah - Rea Waddoups Barrington, 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Hurricane, Utah, on Sept. 3, 2012. She was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Dayton, Idaho, to Ivan and Myrtle Venvertloh Waddoups. She was the fifth child in a family of seven children. She married Ross T. Barrington on April 3, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They have lived in Ogden, Utah; Preston, Idaho; and Hurricane, Utah.
Rea was valedictorian of her graduating class at West Side High School. She was also a talented artist and beautified the family home with many wonderful oil paintings. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society president, as well as other callings in the Relief Society, Young Women's organization and Name Extraction. She had a strong love for children and cherished her many years of service in the Primary. She also served as an ordinance worker in the St. George LDS Temple for almost 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ross; son, LaMar (Susan) Barrington; sisters, Barbara Crookston and Marie Davis; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Victor, Mildred, Elaine and Bernie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Hurricane 17th Ward chapel, 452 N. 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah, preceded by a viewing from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Riverdale, Idaho, cemetery.
