PRESTON- Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Margaret Deane Monson Edwards, passed away at the age of 91 on Sept. 12, 2012, in North Logan, Utah. She was the sixth of 10 children born to Alma Hyrum and Margaret Ena Peterson Monson in Preston, Idaho, on Nov. 16, 1920. Her childhood days were spent with many friends in the Sixth Ward and she received her education in the Preston City schools.

She married Nathaniel Edwards Jr. on Nov. 26, 1937, in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They returned to Preston where they started a floral business from a bedroom in their home, with gladiolus grown in their garden, which became Edwards Floral and Greenhouses. Well known among florists in the intermountain area, they served in leadership roles of FTD and Teleflora Organizations and Deane was president of the Utah Idaho Florists Association. Nat and Deane served as floral judges at state and county fairs throughout Idaho and Utah for many years.

She was a member of the Sacajawea Camp of DUP, the Preston Ladies Literary Club, the Friendship Club and Birthday Club. She was a loyal supporter of civic and community organizations and events, and was named the first Queen of Lights for the Idaho Festival of Lights. She served in many capacities in auxiliary organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but especially loved the children in the nursery, her Laurel girls in Mutual and her compassionate service in Relief Society.

Deane lived at Pioneer Valley Lodge in North Logan for five and a half years and then with her daughter in North Logan since December of 2010.

She is survived by her sons, Leon (Sondra) Edwards, Steve (RaNae) Edwards and Curtis (Janet) Edwards, all of Preston, Idaho; her daughters, Susan (Jim) Patterson of Smithfield, Utah; and DeAnna Bollschweiler Fry of Salt Lake City and North Logan, Utah. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Robyn, Kristi, Kim, Holly, Tate, Natalie, Heather, Judd, Nicole and Amber, who brought light to her life, and by 18 great-grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by sisters, Connie Rawlings of Preston, Barbara Rinderknecht of Providence, Utah and Cleone Jones of Rexburg, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nat, on March 9, 1997, and by two sons-in-law, D. Utley Bollschweiler and Richard Charles Fry; by brothers, Dale, Rheal and Garth Monson; and by sisters, Norma Murray, Mada Larsen and Louise Hendricks.
