MINK CREEK, IDAHO-Our beloved Kris has returned to the arms of Heavenly Father. Kristine Evelyn Shewell Christensen, 62, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013, at her home in Mink Creek from ovarian cancer. She was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother to a large and loving family.
She was born June 7, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Mac and Barbara Lucille Gunnerson Shewell. She married Clare Eugene Christensen on Jan. 4, 2002, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She loved music and enjoyed vacationing to the National Parks. She worked for Equitable Life & Casualty Insurance Co. in Salt Lake City for twenty years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in various callings.
She is survived by her husband, Clare of Mink Creek; four sons and three daughters, Charles Joseph Coplen of Kirkland, Washington; Jonathan Wade Coplen of West Valley City, Utah; Stephen (Alecia) Christensen of Logan, Utah; Robin (Joseph) Francom of Silverdale, Washington; Janna (William) Wolfley of Preston, Idaho; Tiffany (Lee) Kinder of Logan, Utah and Devin (Shaundeen) Christensen of Layton, Utah; 32 grandchildren; her mother, Barbara (Burnise) Mecham of West Valley City, Utah; by a brother, Joseph Keith (Colleen) Shewell of Taylorsville, Utah; and by a sister, Kim (Brett) Hardcastle of Holladay, Utah. She was preceded in death by her father, by a foster daughter, Vida Nguyen and by a foster son-in-law, Thang Nguyen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mink Creek Ward Chapel with Bishop Kent Egley conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery.
