WESTON, IDAHO — Max Arlin Bartholomew died peacefully Monday, April 29, 3013, surrounded by family and friends. He escaped the cruel effects of cancer and heart disease and went on to a better life. He was a righteous example of trying to live as the Savior would have us live. He will be greatly missed.

Max was born Aug. 4, 1942, in Provo, Utah, to Lee Berns Bartholomew and Lois May Durrant Bartholomew. He was the eldest of six children. He married Linda Young on Dec. 27, 1963. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a meteorologist and then spending time in the Air Force Reserves.

He loved woodworking, fishing and gardening. He was an active member of the LDS Church, always serving in some position. Most recently he and Linda were officiators at the Logan Temple, and before that they were service missionaries at Cinnamon Creek Church Camp for three summers.

He is survived by his wife Linda; children Charlotte (Brian) Womack, Marlin C. (Helen) Bartholomew, Jon Lee (Selena) Bartholomew, Peggy (Miguel) Martinez, Lauralyn (Aaron) Anderson, JoAnna (Tom) Arnold, Michael D. (Barbara) Bartholomew, Jason Lee (MacKenzie) Bartholomew and Daniel E. (Janita) Bartholomew; 35 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, May 3, in the Weston 1st Ward chapel with Bishop Randy Austin conducting. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho, and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Weston church. Interment will be in the Weston Cemetery.
