Mae Gregory Porter, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Idaho Falls on Sunday, June 30, 2013. She was born July 10, 1930, in Mapleton, Idaho, to Otto James and Elizabeth Sharp Gregory. She married Tharol George Porter on May 25, 1949, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mae was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in numerous callings such as Primary worker, Scouting and enjoyed doing a lot of genealogy. She worked with her husband in the Logan Temple baptistery as well.
She was fond of handiwork like sewing and quilting. She loved picnics and camping.
Mae was a cook for the school district and also for the Franklin County Hospital for a number of years.
May is survived by her husband, Tharol of Idaho Falls; her children, Shauna (Con) Decker of Rigby, Roxann (Carl) Owen of Iona, Rick (Brenda) Porter of Farmington, Utah, and Stan (Carol) Porter of Evanston, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren; as well as six step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Morris (RuthAnn) Gregory of Preston, Idaho, Jay (BarDee) Gregory of Sunset, Utah, Darvel (Kathy) Gregory of Blackfoot and Garald (Nyla) Gregory, serving an LDS Mission in Hong Kong; and a sister, Janice (Kent) Kindred, serving an LDS mission in Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis; a grandson, Jerry Hodges; and two sisters, Dorma and Karma Gregory.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, with Bishop Boyd Southwick conducting. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.
