Evelyn Jensen Braddy, 87 years young, passed away on October 15, 2013 peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born on March 8, 1926 in Glendale, Idaho to Olean Alder and Ellen Clayton Porter Jensen. She married Bernard Vernon Braddy on October 3, 1945 in Provo, Utah.
Evelyn was raised on the family farm in Glendale, Idaho with her eight siblings by a loving mother and father and attended local schools. She graduated from school and relocated to Ogden, Utah where she was employed by Hill Field Air Base during WWII and met her future husband, Bernard Braddy. Evelyn and Bernie moved to Colorado at the end of WWII to open a Culligan Soft Water Company in Canon City where they raised their family. Following the sale of Culligan Soft Water, they started a television and appliance business, known as Bernie's TV & Appliance which thrived for many years before they retired and relocated to St. George, UT.
Evelyn was an accomplished artist, winning several ribbons for her oil paintings, served as the organist for her church, and enjoyed becoming involved in the local political scene in St. George.
She is survived by her four children: Neil Braddy of St. George, Beverly Rouse of Glendora, CA, George Braddy of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Koleen Popin (Bill) Orem, UT, 10 grandchildren, sisters including Lucille Hall of Kerns, UT, Colleen Hyer of Lewiston, ID., Helen Lombardi of St. George, Sharon Buttars of Franklin, ID, and one brother, Glen Jensen of Brigham City, UT. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, sister, BarDee Jensen, brothers David and Cecil.
Funeral services will be Saturday October 19, 2013 at 11; 00 AM at the LDS Church located at 1610 N. Dixie Downs Road, St. George, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday evening between 6:00 - 7:30PM and Saturday morning at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will take place in St. George City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
