LOGAN — Joseph Ronald Robinson, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Logan Nursing and Rehab. He was born July 28, 1924, in Preston Idaho, the son of Ronald and Josie Moser Robinson.

As a youth his family lived in Preston, Oregon, and Logan. He attended Logan High School and during his junior year was drafted into the Air Force. He graduated with an electrical degree and served as an airplane mechanic and staff sergeant during World War II. After returning home from war, he worked with his father at Logan Central Mill. The family later purchased farm land in Cornish. As a farmer, Jay loved the satisfaction he received from seeing the benefits of his hard work.

In 1978 he began working at Utah State University’s Taggart Student Center. After the completion of the University Inn he became the maintenance coordinator where he was loved by all for his positive and friendly attitude. He was Utah State University’s classified employee of the year in 1983 and again in 2001. In 2000, he was recognized by the Utah Hotel and Lodging Association as the maintenance engineering employee of the year.

He was sealed to his sweetheart, Jeanette, for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on Oct. 5, 1985.

Jay was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including ward clerk and in the Logan Regional Hospital branch presidency.

Jay’s interests included yard work, being outdoors, traveling, reading and spending time with family.

He will be remembered by his loved ones for his caring and positive attitude. He was always thinking of how he could help others, especially his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughter, Teresa (Mike) Woodward of Brigham City; son, Jed (Jenny) Nelson of North Ogden; son, Jeremy Nelson of Layton; daughter, Nichole (Dustin) Singleton of Providence; brother, Edwin (Carolyn) Robinson of Cornish; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, infant brother, Robert, and nephew, Ronnie.
