Adrian was my uncle. His brother is my father. Wilbern put the kids in an orphanage in Twin Bridges MT when my dad was a baby. Adrian kept his family name. About four years ago me and my siblings found Adrian's name in one of the orphanage's book at a little museum located in Twin Bridges MT.
My dad was adopted by John and Clara Woods who lived in Silver Star Montana. Adrian and Margaret lived with a family in Dillon Montana. My dad didn't reconnect with his siblings till he was an adult. Adrian and my father Walter looked so much alike when I was 9 and Adrian and Dorothy visited us, I thought Adrian was my dad when I opened the door.
I have one picture of Adrian Margaret and Walter when they were young. (Adrian was around 14).
Adrian and Dorothy had 5 kids. He was high in the Morman church before he left Dorothy for another woman. Later in life Dorothy and him were reunited.

Margaret married and moved to Hawaii. She was an expert pianist. I don't remember her married name.
Of us 5 kids there is still alive my older brother and sister.
I did not think Carry was born in Sweden. I believe her family was in American before the American Revolution.

Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen.
Patricia,
You may have all of the below, but I needed the background for the research:

The 1900 US Census for Friend School, Township 21, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory (Eastern half of Oklahoma)
William Rhines, head, Oct 1840 in Tenn.
Elizabeth, wife, May 1852 in IL
Jas H., August 1872 in IL
Imia/Imis?, Aug 1874 in IL
Oscar, Nov? 1874

Border Crossings from Canada to the US.
May 1916
James Henry Rhines, age 42, born in Odin(?), Ill, farmer, Irish ancestry, 5'-8".
Mary Ethel Rhines, age 27, born in USA, "Trinidad?"
Dora Helen Westhaver(?), age 24, with Friend James H. Rhines, born Halifax, Canada.
--all three enroute to Ontario, California. The Rhines had no relatives in the place of origin; Dora had a Mrs Edward C. Westhaver in Macleod, Alberta
-James had previously been in the US from birth to 1902(difficult to read) in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois

The 1930 Census for Pleasant Prairie, Spokane County, WA
James H. Rhines, 57, born in IL to father born in IL, mother in TN (backward of what was given in 1900), farmer/truck farmer
Ethel, age 42, born in Colorado.
Grace, May 1883, MO
Samuel, Nov 1887, KS
Harry, Oct 1890, OK

James Henry Rhines initiated the naturalization process with his Declaration of Intention, signed 16 November 1935. He and his wife Mary Ethel Rhines were living in Pleasant Prairie, Hillyard, Spokane Co, WA. He was born in Marion County, IL on August 11, 1872. He was married on December 22, 1909, at Macleod, Alberta, Canada. Mary was born in Trinadad, Colorado on December 10, 1888. There is an image of the document available if you do not have it.

Going back to Canada:
The 1911 Census of Canada
James H. Rhines, born August 1828(obviously a mistake), age 33 (would have been 1878)
Mary E. Rhines, Wife, born Dec 1888, 23.
--The 1906 Canadian Census did not include Macleod in transcription.
--The 1901 Canadian Census was checked, but from above he did not enter Canada until 1902.

The Social Security Death Index:
Ethel Rhines, born 10 Dec 1888, died Sept 1971 in Jerome, Jerome Co, ID. Her SSN: 431-24-5029, was issued in Arkansas before 1951. You can obtain a copy of the image of her application for this card from the Social Security Administration. It would identify where she was living, and spouse. She "might" have obtained one due to going to work, or for financial protection in the future.

You didn't identify which brother, or place of death. If the brother died in 1951, where? If Mary Ethel's SSN was issued in Arkansas before 1951, could they have been living with/near the brother up to that time-frame? SSN's were first issued in 1936; but, they were not issued to farmers or those self employed, military, government employees.

I'd suggest obtaining Ethel's obituary (if one was published in Jerome).

Jerome County has a limited website: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~idjerome/
There is one volunteer (But only does high school annuals), but you might contact to see if he would search for an obit. It doesn't appear her name is listed in the Jerome City Cemetery; but she could have been moved to the location where he was buried. Today, Jerome has about 8,000 in population.

Cemeteries:
http://usgwtombstones.org/idaho/jerome.html
I looked through these without success. I also looked through all of the Twin Falls transcribed ones. I'd suggest clicking on the Recorder/Submitter's names, probably Chris Storey, and email. Ask if there are any other cemteries in the area yet untranscribed or where they could be buried. She might even look for the obit of Ethel.

Funeral Homes:
Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel. 208-324-4555
Farnsworth Mortuary. 208-324-7777

About all I can do.

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

For an obit: The family lived in Wendell, Gooding County in the 1920 Census. They may have moved to Jerome, a larger town by her death. Obits were not that common in 1922. Families did not wish to pay for one, sometimes because they had not been in an area long such as in this case. Or, the person was elderly and had few friends or family that would have known of her death anyway. Another factor was the newspaper, was there one in Jerome in 1922.
Jerome is a small town today. It had a newspaper, North Side News, but it went out of business August 2008.

You probably have this information:
From other family trees posted: Cora Cordley (Carrie) Rhines, born 24 March 1879, daughter of William Carter Rhines and Elizabeth C. Brookman. One person identifies her birth as Missouri City, Fort Bend, Texas, unknown if accurate. None of the trees had a copy of an obit.

She is buried here:
http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/jerome/cemeteries/jercem/jr...

Jerome Library:
http://jerome.lili.org/contact
Use their contact above to ask for research help. If there was a newspaper in Jerome in 1922, they "should" have a microfilm.

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

According to my dad, Odus Marchal, their was major family discontent (don't know the exact reason) in the Marchal or Marshal families. Thus the spelling difference in the names.

The reason, again according to my dad, as Addie was his half aunt (but still considered them aunts), for going to Idaho as it was praised as the next Darke County, Ohio.

See Darke County Ohio, where Versailles, Frenchtown, Osgood, among other towns there, has some of the richest farming soil around.

Plus Addie Marchal Barga's first cousin, Joseph Philip Marshal (notice the different spelling of Marshal)was already in the Twin Falls area. He was known as the Potato King. Joseph was already in the Idaho at the turn of the century or 1902.

Delroy and Addie must have went to Idaho right before your dad's birth, as 6 children were born in Darke County, Ohio. So give or take 1925.

Write me at yarrowpower@hotmail.com.... we'll share some more.

We spelled our name as Marchal, as so many of the Darke County Ohioians did.

Thank you for your reply. I really enjoyed it! Last night was the first time that I attempted to do research on Ancestory.com. I thought that there must be more than one marriage between the Barga and Marchal families. I suppose that was pretty common.

I can tell you a little bit about my family. My dad was Harold Joseph Barga (February 2, 1928 - January 19, 1993). He was in the Navy for a few years, and then retired from the Airforce around 1970. After my dad retired we moved to California, and he worked for the State of California until he retired in the early 1990's. My parents were married on May 16, 1959. My mom's name was Lynda Jolene Lawrence (June 24, 1941 - October 22, 2006) Both of my parents died of cancer. I miss them terribly!!

My parents had two daughters. Collen Marie Barga (May 16, 1961) and Christina Ann Rice (December 25, 1962). My sister has one son, Robert Jospeh Barga (May 18, 1997). I have two daughters, Amy Kathleen Rice (May 19, 1993) and Lauren Marissa Rice (April 8, 1997). My husband G. Dale Rice and I, were married on December 28, 1992.

I have been curious about how our family ended up in Idaho. Do you know why our family migrated to the Twin Falls area? Do you have any of the details?

I look forward to hearing from you!
Christina

Yes, we are cousins. In fact, according to my Family Tree Maker relationship figure outer, our dads are first half cousins.

That is because your grandmother, Addie Marchal, was the first child of the 2nd marriage of our great grandfather, Louis J. Marchal.

My grandfather, Nicholas Marchal, was the last child born to Louis' first wife.

What is more interesting. On the Barga side, my grandmother, Tracy Barga, the wife of Nicholas Marchal mentioned above, is a 2nd cousin to your grandfather Delroy.

So... let's start sharing!!!

Delroy Barga and Adeline Marchal are my grandparents. My dad is Harold Barga, their 9th child. My name is Christina Rice and I have two children. I also have a sister, Colleen Barga, that has one son.

Are you my cousin? If so, who are your parents? I would love to hear from you.

I have long wondered the origin and meaning if there is one of the name Arlouine. Both my mother and grandmother are named Arlouine. My grandmother was named after the best friend of her mother. My great-grandmother died at 27 from TB, leaving my grandmother and her two siblings to be raised by their father. Any information about the name was lost in our family. I've always been very curious about this, have you found anything out since this post? My mom was born in 1931 in Huntington, WV and my grandmother was born in 1907 in Anderson, IN.

i am looking to know more about my Fathers family. his name was Norman duane Elarth. WWII vet and fireman for 36 years. he passed away when I was a teen. I didnt know it then, but as time has passed iregret not knowing him better. he adopted me when i was very young, and he is the only real father ive ever known. ive had 3. i have children now, and i we it to them to know something about their name. i ve never met my bloodfather, but i know he died of bone cancer. Norm did not have to do what he did, adopting me, and taking excellent care of my mother and me. sure there was bad times, mostly after he got sick, but i put him through hell myself. i thought he was to strict and regret many things. Irealise now that he was only trying to do the best he could. I miss him. I wonder what happened to little Vernon, we used to play together in van nuys when we were little. I am 44 now, iwonder if Ruth, uncle Vernons wife is still alive. Also Norman, Istill have pictures of you helping build the El Rath. I want nothing but info on the name that i proudly keep. there are two teenage boys , Carl and Forrest Elarth now. someone please send a note. EDWARD DENTON ELARTH. Adopted son of NORMAN DUANE ELARTH, and SUSAN DALE MOORE, later married to Norman.

Guambaby, Thank you for your reply re my posting about
obtaining the obit for Henry MILLER. This is something that I really need because this is where my roadblock is
on searching for a Allie COX who married H.N. MILLER in
Jerome, ID in Nov. 1934. Have about a 13 yr blank spot in Allie's life till she resurfaces in CO. Research suggestions are gladly welcomed. Thanks again, Sylvia
