DIED FROM GUNSHOT WOUND

FRANK MOLSTEAD THE VICTIM

Frank Molstead, a single man about 42 years of age accidentally shot himself through the breast at his home in this city Tuesday morning. He was a carpenter by trade and had been making preparations to go to Wallace, where he expected to find work. At the time of the accident he was in his bedroom tinkering with a carbine when the weapon was accidentally discharged, the ball passing through his breast just over the heart and coming out below the shoulder blde. From the course taken by the ball it is supposed that he was bending over when the accident happened. He was living with an aunt and immediately after the report of the gun he staggered from the bedroom with the exclamation that he was shot. His aunt went to his assistance but before she could reach him he sank to the floor and expired. She called assistance and Coroner Sabin was notified. He made an examination of the body and surroundings and decided that an inquest was not necessary, there being no doubt about the death being accidental. Deceased has a brother, Adolph Molstead, living in this vicinity. He was a well educated man and a native of Norway, born April 5, 1864. He came to this country when a lad of 17 and was a man of good character.

The funeral took place Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rv. J. P. Barker officiating. Deceased was a member of the Modern Woodmen and Carpenters’ union and the remains were laid away in Forest Cemetery with the honors of these orders, the members turning out in a body to attend the funeral.
