Classification: Query
Need information on James H. Hockensmith who lived most of his life as a miner in Lemhi County, Idaho.

He first appears in Idaho Territory, Leesburg, Loon Creek Mining district in 1870, age 35, single. James remains in Lemhi County and is listed on census records 1880 -1910. In 1910 he was still single and 75 years of age.

James H. Hockensmith was born in Franklin County, Kentucky. According to his tombstone located in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Switzer, Kentucky he was born on September 22, 1834 and died April 7, 1916. A Kentucky death certificate has not been located for James Hockensmith and it is suspected he may have died in Lemhi County and his body brought back to Kentucky by family.

In the book Images of America, Lemhi County, by Hope Benedict, Lemhi County Historical Society and Museum, chapter 7, page 85 - The Community of Lemhi Company is a photograph taken in 1910 during a railroad celebration of the "founding fathers" of Lemhi County. James Hockensmith is included amoung these men. Supposedly James Hockensmith is also on page 119. Can anyone help me secure a copy of these pages.
