Thomas H Lewis, 87, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013, with his wife of 66 years by his side. Tom was born September 29, 1926 in Malad Idaho, the first son of Martha Lucinda Thomas and Thomas J. Lewis. He grew up in St. John, where he learned to farm and the value of hard work.

He graduated from Malad High School and Seminary, where he lettered in track and won many ribbons and metals. He placed in the top 3 in the State Track Meet.

Tom entered the Army, where he became a Tech sergeant and was over the motor pool in Munich, Germany during World War II. He later returned to Idaho where he was reunited with his sweetheart, Afton Marble. They were married on February 24, 1947 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Roy, Utah where he worked at Hill field. His love of farming took them back to Idaho where he was a dry farmer, dairy farmer, and business man. He could fix almost anything with baling wire and a pair of pliers. He was always willing to help anyone at anytime. He worked for ATK Thiokol until he and Afton retired to Malad, Idaho, where he could be found doing beautiful wood work and various other projects for his kids and others. He loved to fish and eat ice cream.

He served two missions with his wife, one to Chesterfield, Idaho where he helped restore some of the old town and one to the Logan Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Afton and his greatest joy his children: Jeannie (Lynn) Morgan, Julie (Gary) Flinders, Thomas (Maureen) Lewis, Janette (Jack) Young, Jill (Stan) Barnes, Timothy (Sarah) Lewis, Jackielyn (Dennis) Bierma, Jolyn (Mark) Nobles, Michael (Sherry) Lewis, Johnalee (Darrin) McDonald, Patrick (Kolett) Lewis. His sister Elsie Sperry, and Brother Gary Lewis. 63 Grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters ,Anona, Dorothy, Verna and one brother Boyd.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Malad LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1250 N 1100 W, Malad, Idaho. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N, and again at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the St. John cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley Funeral Home.
