Verna Ward Kupers
ROCKLAND - Verna Ward Kupers, 87, of Rockland, Idaho, died Monday, July 5,
1999 at Pocatello Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 6, 1911 to Joseph and Myrtle Churchill Ward in The Dalles,
Oregon.
On October 8, 1929 she married Fred Kupers; he died September 16, 1978. On May
9, 1931 they were blessed with a daughter, Rossie. In 1939 they moved to a farm
south of Rockland and in 1942 they purchased a home in Rockland, where she had
lived until her death.
She was an active member of the Congregational Church, and served as church
deaconess, president of the Women's Fellowship, and played the piano for church
services for many years.
She is survived by two grandsons, Richard and Ronald Nelson; 14 great-grandchildren and a
son-in-law, Richard Nelson Sr. Her husband, daughter and two granddaughters preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 8, 1999 at noon at the Congregational Church in
Rockland, with the Rev. Scott Harris officiating. The visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
Davis Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls, and one hour before the service Thursday at the
church. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Rockland, Idaho.
