Surnames: Winchester, Brownfield
I am not sure when or where Sarah Winchester and John Brownfield married, but I believe that they owned land in Champaign County, Illinois. I have John's ancestry in great detail, but I am seeking information about Sarah Winchester about whom I can find nothing.
A descendant of this couple expressed a belief that Sarah's marriage to Brownfield was not her first marriage and that Winchester was her previous married name. That would explain why I cannot find her in any Winchester records. I am seeking her maiden name and any details about her life.
Family tradition holds that Sarah was of New York Dutch ancestry, cross-eyed and somewhat bad-tempered. Her mother's name was supposedly Janet. Any further information would be much appreciated, especially her maiden name and date of marriage.
