Hiram lived as a child in the Lincoln/Maury Co., TN area, then moved to the Shelby/Coles Co., IL area shortly after getting married.
Hiram's death is a mystery. Family tradition states that he left IL to join several family members who had already migrated to TX, but after leaving IL, he was never heard from again. Others say that he had already settled in TX and was on his way back to IL to visit family members when he disappeared.
I'm descended from Hiram's eldest son, Willis Barton Langston, but I'd love to hear from anyone with connections to the other children as well.
