looking for Marriage record for grandparents

Hello,
I am currently stumped on trying to search for the marriage record of my Grandmother Louise Rose [ maiden name: Stiegart ] and my grandfather Paul Cantrell. Louise was one of the children of Charles Stiegart and Rose [ Burzlaff ] Stiegart, born 13 July 1908 in Chicago Illinois, Cook County. My grandfather was born to parents Leonidas Cleburn Cantrell and Minerva Thompson in Nashville Tennessee on 4 Feb 1909. They were married in Illinois but I can not locate a marriage record for them in Cook County Illinois. Is there anywhere else I can look on Ancestry that would come up with their wedding date? My cousin & I are thinking they may not of been married in Cook County. They would of been married between 1930 - 1933.
Thank you for your time and appreicate your help.
Donna & Paul

If it is not listed at the Cook County Genealogy site (I don't see it there), here is what the Cook County Clerk's office says:
http://cookcountygenealogy.com/Default.aspx

We can do manual search for you. Please fill out and sign a Genealogical Request Form and pay the required fee of $15 per record. If a manual search does not produce the record, your money will not be refunded and a certificate of "No Record Found" will be issued.

Mail Your Request To:
Cook County Clerk David Orr
Bureau of Vital Records - Genealogy
P.O. Box 642570
Chicago, IL 60664-2570

I sent in my $15 and they were unable to locate my parents marriage records and I received their certificate of "No Record Found". My parents would have been married about 1931, same time span you were looking for. I wonder if there was a problem with lost, burned, damaged records from that time?? Good luck. Let me know if you find them anywhere. Maybe it will help me find mine.

Gail, I will let you know. It is possible that records could of been damaged or lost, BUT there should be copies in the State Archives of Illinois in Springfield, Shouldn't there??

Do you know if they were married in a church? If so, the church may have a record.

you may want to check Lake County, Indiana - it was a "marriage mill" back then b/c you could get married right away. Crown Point is the seat. If you go to ingenweb.com or org and then find Lake County, you should be able to look at marriage records.

I wonder, too, if you order the social security number record whether or not it would ask anything about marriage? Didn't social security come around in the 1930s? If so, it might help narrow down a time frame.

Do you have obits for them? Sometimes it will have the wedding date or say how long they were married.

Are they married in the 1930 census?

Here is some info you may already have, but I'm putting it in so I don't re-do my efforts. This is from the Chicago Tribune archives.

Okay, so this is your Grandmother's mom, right? And it seems that your Grandmother is married to someone named Larry Bronke. This is 1963, three years before Paul Cantrell died, so they must have separated at some point. You can look for the record of her second marriage, which might have some info on her previous marriage, and/or look up a divorce record for she and Paul, which should also have info on their marriage date.

I've pasted in other hits on Stiegart I got from the Tribune archives.
