Re Cox famililes:
There were a million Coxes, weren't there? Here is some of what I have on the Crawford County Cox families.
My ancestor--John Cox b. 1777 in NC m. Zilpha Lancaster b. 1780, NC; They were Quakers and Zilpha came north to Crawford Co. from NC. John died in NC before she came. She died 1847 and is buried in the Musgrave Cemetery, Hutsonville Twp., Crawford Co., IL. They were my 3 gg parents. Their daughter, Eliza Ann m. William Musgrave in Crawford Co, IL. John was s/o Richard and Mary Kennedy.
Thomas Cox b. 1775 NC m. Winnie Harroll in NC was s/o Thomas Cox and Phebe Fellows. Thomas s/o Thomas and Sarah Buzby. These Coxes were Quakers.
Matthew Cox b. 16 Jan 1801 TN m. Anna Beams b. 1803 TN and d. 1876 in Clark Co, IL. Both are buried in the Cox Cemetery, Prairie Twp., Crawford Co., IL. Matthew was s/o Braxton and Nancy (Anna) Ellison. Matthew and Anna were 3 gg parents of my husband. They had no known religion.
Needham Cox was b. ca 1815 NC s/o Richard Cox & Mary Griffin m. Mary Cotten b. 1805 KY and d. 1859. Needham and wife Mary are both buried in Bradbury Cem., Hutsonville Twp., Crawford Co., IL. Bryant Cox b. 1804 was s/o Needham and Mary Cox.
Sarah Cox b. ca 1815 prob. in NC, d. 1890 in Vigo Co., IN m. Abel Reynolds b. 1812 NC and d. 1905 in Crawford Co., IL. Sarah was d/o John Cox and Ruth Allen. Abel Reynolds was s/o Jesse Reynolds and Welmety Lamb who were my 4 gg parents.
