This is a long shot, but I'm looking for info on

John Calvin Steward/t (29 Oct 1859 - 2 Jul 1943) who married Mary Elizabeth Spurlock (8-1865 - 13 Mar 1903)

Lizzie as she was also know grew up in Young Hickory, Fulton. They married 11 Jul 1889 in Peoria. And are on the census for Canton, Fulton in 1900.

I'm trying to find info on John Calvin. He was born in Van Wert, Ohio but the court house burned down and there's no records of his birth. I can't find him before his marriage certificate.

Does anyone have any sign of him in Fulton county prior to 1900? I'm in Finland and can't access much beyond the internet. His parents were either Andrew or John Steward and Mary Catherine Fairchild or Brown/Braun. He seems to have been a bit liberal with his family information as it's often different on different records. They were either English or born in Pennsylvania, depending on what you believe.

I know this is all incredibly vague, but any help would be appreciated, other avenues to search, etc.
