My greatgrand father Michael Phalen born 1836, came from Ireland to Fulton county, Ill., married Mary Jane Stephens and had three children Sarah Phalen Goldsmith, William Phalen born August 14, 1871 and John Phalen. Michael died 1885 in Fulton co., Illinois when my grandfather was only 14 and became an orphan. I could find no information about Mary Jane Stephens Phalen only that she died prior to 1885.
