Thanks for checking for me. Thomas Keaton was in Bernadotte, Fulton Co., IL in the 1840 census, but by 1850, his widow and family were in St. Louis, MO. Guess Thomas died either in St. Louis or on the way to St. Louis.

Deerfield this is present day Deerfield.
I found a Martin on the 1825-1865 Illinois state census.
The day of this was July 3, 1865. Sadly it only lists the name of head of household, with the other members of the family in the age sections.
I also found a Martin Pierce on the 1855 census for Knox county, Maquon.
I am not researching this family, but wil pass along any information I can find.
Deb

I'm trying to track down the ancestors of Edward Foster. He was born in Cecil County,MD August 18, 1818. He was married to Mary Mercer when he arrived in Fulton Co. I'm not sure where he died, but it was between the 1880 and 1900 census while married to a woman by the last name of Green. I can get him back to Cecil County. His parents were Edward and Ann Woodrow Foster. Past that I think it is Benjamin Foster still in Cecil County, MD. I'm just not sure. If anyone has more information I would appreciate it.

Yes I do know the number, not sure how they handle calls, but certainly worth a try. Area code 309-547-3041. I am originally from there and go back about every few weeks. Let me know if you get any help, and will put you on my list of look ups when I go back over. I try to spend a little time looking up files each trip. Otherwise, the Parlin Ingersol Library has info, not sure if can help you or not. Also, have you found this sight? It is the Fulton County Genealogy Forum. http://www.activeboard.com/forum
Nice sight, with helpful folks.

I am familiar with both names, growing up I knew a Mildred Barrett, and a Shawver family. Anyway, I looked up in my Zimmerman Funeral Home Records book from 1908 thru 1936 any connected with whom you are looking for. I found a few Shawver's who died in the 1930's. Are these of any interest? If so will post. They are buried in Oak Hill Cem.

Martin & Lydia Pierce

I’m still looking for information on Martin and Lydia Pierce. I have obtained copies of documents where they purchased 40 acres in Fulton County in 1859. (Northwest quarter of the North east quarter of section 8 in Township 7, north in range two & east of the fourth principal meridian)

I assume this is in present day Deerfield Township, but I am by no means sure. If anyone can give me some insight on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

My other problem is that I have not been able to locate them on the 1860 Census. Perhaps knowing for sure where this property is located, will help in that search as well.

Children born to this couple were George Gilbert, James A, Warren H, Gertrude, Clarence L, Imogene (Emma), and Charles Edgar. All of these children were born in Illinois, prior to the family moving to Kansas in 1871.

Martin Pierce was born in New York on March 8, 1827. His wife was Lydia Ann Joshlin (or Joslin), and she was born in New York on Aug 14, 1827. They were married in 1854.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have done research on this line for years and gotten no where.
