I believe I have information on your Scanlands. Check the records in Gallatin County Kentucky. In 1805 Walker Scanland gave land in Gallatin to son Baldwin J. Scanland. In 1803 Walker Scanland moved to Union County Kentucky. Walker was working the Saline salt mines around 1810 and 1811.

Walker married Marguerite Johnson, daughter of Baldwin Johnson/Johnston and Elizabeth. The Union County Kentucky Court book for 1822 mentions Scanland heirs and administration of the Scanland estate. Son Wilton Scantland married Nancy Austin and their daughter Nancy Jane Scantland was my grandmother's grandmother.

The History of Union County Kentucky (1886) has a biography of Fielding Jones, the husband of Nancy Jane Scantland and some information on the Scanland family. By the way, Wilton Scantland bought some land in Union Co in 1834 that stayed in the Jones family until 1960.
