"FATAL ACCIDENT AT HAMILTON"
James A. Kinkade, who operates a feed mill at HAMILTON, was caught in a revolving belt in the engine room of his feed mill Saturday, sustaining injuries from which he died at St. Joseph Hospital, Keokuk, Saturday evening. In attempting to replace a large belt on the fly wheels his clothing became entangled drawing his body into the revolving wheels. C.B. Marshall and son and C.M. Brant, customers, came to his assistance, too late to save him.
Coroner Moore summoned a jury which rendered the following verdict:
We the jury, find that James Allen Kinkade came to his death by accidentally coming in contact with the belt of tractor engine which was being used to operate a grinder in his mill. Evidence shows that Mr. Kinkade was entirely alone in room when the accident occurred. From the evidence and circumstances it is apparent the accident was entirely accidental. Mr. Kinkade sustained a fracured fermur of right leg and other minor bruises.
