AN AGED PIONEER DIED AT OPDYKE - Jacob Brewer Jones, Aged 82 Succumbs to Old Age - One of Early Settlers
Jacob Brewer JONES, aged 82 years, died at his home, in the edge of Opdyke, Thursday night, his death being due to old age. He was one of the early settlers in the county, and has lived in the vicinity of Opdyke for at least a half century...............END

Jacob Brewer JONES was born in Jennings County, Indiana, September 20th, 1828, and died December 15th, 1910, aged 82y2m20d. He lived on a farm with his father until he married Mary Ann SAVILL, November 20th, 1856.
This union was blessed with six children; Harriet C., Lydia J., Fred, Charley, Alde and Olen, of whom four survive their father. Charley and Lydia having died a number of years ago. There are also nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of friends to mourn his loss. He moved from Indiana to Jefferson County, Illinois, in 1861, and has resided in this immediate vicinity ever since.
He and his wife joined the M. E. Church and later joined the Christian Church and both lived constant lives as they understood their duty. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. HOAR, pastor of the M. E. Church and interment at Opdyke Cemetery, Friday afternoon....END
