Lucky, lucky me. Tom, what a great gift you have given me. I found my father's name in the 1951 directory. We lived on Midland Avenue, not too far from Diamond Lake. I looked it on a map. I even found neighbor names, too.
Mom and her three kids would get on the North Shore passenger train at Mundelein and travel down to Chicago to Marshal Field’s Station on some occasions. We always stopped at the diner counter in the basement of the Marshall Field’s Department Store. Mom treated us to some ice cream in a tall glass container. It was like a Frosty that you can buy at Wendy’s; today……
When I was looking for info on the North Shore; I found these web sites. It has three train photos.http://www.mundelein.org/centennial/northshoreline.html http://www.mundelein.org/centennial/photos.htm
Again, thank you so much for your help.
