Nan [Morrow] Golliher, daughter of John Morrow and Mary [Shoup] Morrow, of Logan County, IL and Sherman County, OR, wrote about her mother's father, "Grandpa Shoup's homestead in Logan County, IL near Mt. Pulaski was where we lived for a while. Settled sometime in the middle 1800s on Salt Creek. The farm consisted of a wooded patch, cornfields, wheat and a meadow, an orchard and a lane along Salt Creek to the barn lot. John Shoup was a judge and lawyer in Pennsylvania [no proof] and took a land claim in Logan County. He used his house for a court house. Mother often wondered what became of his books."
