CORRECTION: Time for me to eat some crow and make a correction. It looks like my mom got the wrong gr grandpa on this death by stove explosion event. I just received a copy of Cullen's father inlaw's obit (Henry Rubow) from a very nice Rubow cuz. Henry died in KS 1897 from a stove exploding while warming dynamite in it. I doubt that Cullen's father Manley met the same fate in LA with gunpowder in 1856.

Cheers, Doug

Yes, I am still here. I used to have Oakwood cemetery books, but not any longer. Also, in my tree I have one Park (no 's' on it), a Minnie Park who married Slucia Slyter, son of Delett Slyter and Marietta Peck. Marietta Peck was my connection to that line. That's all I have about Minnie as she is the granddaughter of a sister of one of my grandfathers. I am sorry to say that I do not have any information on the people you mention. I wish I could be of some help as I know memories can be precious. Thank you for checking though. Have a very blessed day!

I realize this is a very old e-mail and I am taking a chance, but I am very interested in the Parks you have named. My great-grandmother was Eliza Ann Parks Clark, the daughter of Joseph Parks and Malinda Hays Parks. I would be extremely interested in any information you have on them, and would be willing to share what I have.

I would also like to know if you are related to "Charlie" Parks. The reason I ask is that I remember him coming to our house when I was a young girl in Moline, IL and asking my father information about his mother, Madeline Clark Kribble, and I remember going to their home in Moline several times. Now that I am old and gray I am curious what happened to all that information I really didn't appreciate at the time.

I do know that my grandparents, Isaac and Madeline Kribble, are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, along with several of their children.

I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks
Robert Mackey, b. abt 1824 in Pennsylvania, lived in Hire Twp, McDonough County, IL, in the 1850 and 1860 Census records. In the 1850 Census, he is shown as Robert McCary with a small daughter, Rachel. This indicates he was married but his wife most likely died in childbirth just prior to census date. In 1851 he married Margaret Hungate and they went forward with several children.

We would like to find the wife who died in 1850 there in McDonough County. Does anyone have a cemetery listing for the area who might be able to identify this wife?

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

Contact chartemp@aol.com

Hello, Cousin JoAnn!

My line:

Joshua Simmons and Mary "Polly" Webster
Their son
John Mordecai Simmons and Mary Jane Lewis
Their daughter
Mattie Edna Simmons and William Woodford Hughes
Their son (my parents)
William John Hughes and Eva Marie Senders

Which doesn't help you much with your McGinnis line. The records I've found so far go back only to John Kepel McGinnis, so I have no information on his parents. My grandmother Mattie was our family historian and I still haven't gone through all her notes. I can tell you that John Kepel McGinnis was a Methodist minister, but you probably already know that.

If I run across anything, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if you are interested in your Simmons line, I have quite a lot of information.

Katherine

There is a listing for Liberty Cemetery in the Rural Cemeteries of McDonough Co., published by the Schuyler-Brown Historical and Genealogical Society. I have seen it at the libraries in Macomb & Galesburg. I have a partial listing. If you want to give me some names, I'll be glad to check for them.
Carol
CMD724@aol.com

Just follow the instructions.

Below is the information on her marriage and then the URL for the Illinois Marriages 1763 - 1900.

I didn't check for a 2nd marriage for Louisa (try both her married and her maiden name.
Wise county is one county over from Tarrant county. Amanda Mathews was in this vacinity around 1880-1900 and then in OK. Mary Ann Mathews married in the 1895 timeframe to someone in Sherman, Tx that was named either McClain, McClary, McLary or some variant of that. I do have a Martha Ellen Mathews that was older sister to Amanda E Mathews. She was in Arkansas with them in 1870. Amanda married at the age of 12 to William Waggoner and they were on the 1880 census in Ellis County which is just south of Dallas. Then she was living on land in Tarrant County Texas in 1890 when her husband died. She then married William Eno Lackey and they were in 1898 having a picture of their son William Wesley Lackey in the Gainesville Square which is one county over from Wise County. I bet that Martha Ellen named her child Annie for her mother as they called Mary Ann "Annie" Jones.
I have information about the George W & Mary Ann (Jones)Mathews family. George & Mary Ann did go to Texas (living in Arkansas in 1879) and living in Tarrant County, Texas in 1880. She died in OK in early 1900's. Her daughter Amanda (her youngest child) also was in Tarrant county in 1890 timeframe and then OK in 1900 till her death in 1930's. If Martha is the same as the Martha in this family it could very well be that she went to be with her mother and sister in OK. We have been told that an Aunt helped deliver Amanda's children. This could be the Aunt they were talking about. I would love to share information. Amanda also lived in 1880 in Ennis County, Texas along with some others from McDonough Co, Illinois.
