I am trying to track down a Virgil McDavitt. He was a doctor during the civil war. I saw some records that he served some public offices in McDonough Co and Macomb.

David and Kate (Burress) Myers in Bushnell - obit or cemetery records?

David M. Myers married Kate Alma Burress in McDonough county in 1877. In 1930 they both were still living in the county - in Bushnell. Kate apparently died in Bushnell, July 6, 1934.

It would be great to find a newspaper obituary for Kate, or a cemetery record. It looks like a list for Bushnell Cemetery exists, but not online, probably at the McD historical society.

Almyra Metcalf/Manley Phelps Lisk/Jacob Green in McDonough CO IL

Almyra METCALF, born OH Mar. 24, 1824, married Manley Phelps LISK, born April 4, 1823, Otsego CO NY. They married Nov. 4, 1844, in Franklin CO OH, moved to McDonough CO IL, where he died Feb. 29, 1856. Children were Gertrude Lisk and Cullen Manley Lisk.

Almyra Metcalf then married Jacob GREEN, Sept. 10, 1860, McDonough CO IL. They went to the west coast. She died WA.

In the Census of 1870 Gertrude Lisk and Cullen Lisk are living with their uncle Orra M. Lisk, in Blandinsville, McDonough CO IL before they too move to Thurston CO WA.
Does anyone know Almyra Metcalf's parents? Jacob Green's parents?

William Noah Conner b. 1869 and died 4 Oct 1910. Wife Sarah Elizabeth (Leighty) Conner born 1870 probably in McDonough Co, Illinois. and died 1 May 19907. The family is found in 1900 Brooklyn twp, Schuyler Co., Illinois with two children Bert b. 1891 and Edith born 1894.

In 1910 the widower William Noah Conner is boarding in Blairsville twp, Williamson Co, Illinois. The children are not with him.

I am looking for an obit on William Foy.

He was b 1791 in Vt, m. Ruth Morrill in 1811, d. 1869. William Foy lived in the P-Town and Tampico (Whiteside Co., IL)area from about 1848 till 1869 and is buried in Leon Cemetery (Whiteside Co., IL). He is also the father of David and George Foy who also lived in the area. What I show is he died in Prairie City, McDonough County, Il. Not sure if any newspapers are still around from that time frame, but would appreciate if someone could let me know if they do

His wife, Mabel Jane (Ingram) Baker. She was born around 1899 and her last known whereabouts was Good Hope. Not in Illinois death index.

I am doing research on the Hainline branch of my family and am in search of the Hainline Cemetery. I found it listed in the McDonough County Cemeteries list, but I have not heard of this cemetery and have no clue how to find it. It is supposedly located in the Northeast portion of Section 6 of Emmit Twp. However, I don't know of a cemetery there and so I am assuming it must be a small, private cemetery. Does anyone know of this one? I'd like to make a trip to McDonough County this summer and visit it if I can.

"A dispatch from Bushnell Ill., says that on Saturday evening, April 5, Ramey AKERMAN shot Mrs. E. C. HESS, landlady of the National hotel, and then fired a bullet into his own brain, causing instant death. Mrs. HESS will recover. The deed was supposed to have been committed during a fit of jealousy. She is the mother of C. C. HESS, of this city."

'm trying to find the descendants twin brother of my Great Great Grandfather Thomas S.Roberts. This family lived in Ill. for a few years. His name is Milford Roberts born 1849 in Indiana. 2 miles southeast of Fandon, McDonough County, Illinois.

John Knight NEWCOMB (Newcomb Genealogy #922) was born 10 Oct 1809, Shoreham, Addison Co VT, the son of Luther NEWCOMB and Narcissa BABCOCK. John and family are found in Birmingham Twp, Schuyler Co IL in the 1870 census (page 22). I cannot find him in the 1880 census. When/where did he die? (Newcomb Genealogy states that he lived in Bladinsville, McDonough Co IL 1875. He lived in Hancock Co at 1860 census.)

I am looking for information on my mother's aunt.Her name was Effie Eldora Adkinson and she was born near Macomb, on June 9,1885 and I am unable to find anything on her, I have very little information on her and her parents.This is all that I have on her,her father's name was David Adkinson and her mother's name was Nancy I don't have a maiden name on her. She was married to a Marion Wiley(don't know the dates for the marriage or when he was born),I do know that they moved to Kansas and I assume that he passed away there,but I'm not really sure.They did have two children one died in infancy and the other one was a daughter and her name was Leanoa.Effie eventually moved to Osceola,Missouri and married my mother's uncle.I don't know where her parents came from,when they were married or born.Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Taylor Pyle (1824-1893) and Elizabeth Way (1829-1906) both born in Chester Count, PA may have married in Vermont, McDonough Co, IL in 1850. Probably Quaker. Ten children were born to this couple between 1852 and 1872: James, Phebe Nevada, William Taylor, Louella Kimble, Ellsworth, Anna Mary, Edward Lincoln, Martha Demaris, Lewis, and Clara Eliza.

Of the ten children, Phebe Nevada Pyle married Russell Slater Kirk; William Taylor Pyle married Hannah Belle Anderson; Louella Kimble Pyle married Joseph Moses Webb; Edward Lincoln Pyle married Mark Kirk and Caroline Zimmerman; Martha Demaris Pyle married John Franklin Haney; Clara Eliza Pyle married Wilfred Ewing.

A sister of Taylor Pyle, Hannah Pyle (1820-1907) married William Taylor and lived in Macomb, IL.

Any help in learning more about these families or connecting with cousins appreciated!

I am looking for information on Joseph Justice, b. Pa. about 1808, and his son, Andrew Jackson Justice, b. 1835. Andrew was listed in the military census of 1862 (as A.J. Justus). Were they in the county for the 1860 census? I can't find them on any indexes, in Illinois or Pa.. Would appreciate some guidance, if anyone has run across them. Also, I believe Joseph and his wife Phoebe died there before 1880. If anybody can find some death dates on Phoebe and Joseph Justice, I would appreciate it.
Andrew married Elizabeth Yeast, sister to John Leonard Yeast, who is written up in the county history. Their mother, Susan Yeast, was with another sister in 1880. Would appreciate death dates, if available , of Susan and Adam Yeast (if he died in the area).

I am seeking information of William Roberts and his family who are shown in the 1850 Census living in MC Donough, Ill. William was born in VA or KY around 1805. He was married to Nancy b. in PA around 1808. They had the following childern who were born in In. Mary, Frank, Henry, William Catherine, George and twins, Thomas and Milford. I bought a beautiful formal portrait Identified as Homer b. @1887 IL and Mayme b. @ 1885 IL JOHNSON. The photo studio is Godfrey located in Abingdon, Knox County, IL. I found them in the 1910 Census living in Indian Point, Knox County, IL. Homer is farming working out. In 1920, Homer is farming, and he and Mayme have a son Carl Edward, age 7. They are living in Chalmers, McDonough Cty, IL. In 1930, the family is living in Emmet, McDonough County, IL. Homer, Mayme, Carl, and Homer's father Lewis are living together.

If a person was researching an arrest that happened in 1931 or 1937/8, but you are unsure as to where they were taken, how would you go about finding out. As an example: if the county was Henderson, but the charge included a different county or an adjacent county due to the charge, where would you go to find records?

And are these type of records able to be inspected or researched as the same census types available to us, regarding the year's?

I am trying to locate Katy O. Woods (my GGrandmother) birth father and mother's maiden name.

Katy was born Nov 1861 in IL. Her mother's first name is Sarah. I found Katy in 1880 census living in household with her mother now married to a George Morley. Katy is listed as "step-daughter". Found marriage record of George Morley to a Mrs. Sarah Woods in Greene County, IL for 2 Jul 1868.

A search for marriage info on last name Woods to a "Sarah" shows 1 such marriages in McDonough County. Edward Woods married a Sarah Ann Adcock 8 Jan 1857.

Would appreciate any info to either prove or disprove this marriage is the correct one.
